I am sitting here looking at five seasons of lore and I am sick to my stomach. The writers have done some foul things, but the absolute, systemic Gaslighting of our chemistry queen Olga Mendeleiev is where I draw the line!!!
Why is the city using only 1 braincell!?
Let’s break down the sheer level of disrespect this woman endures on a daily basis:
Kwamibuster: She literally uses her own elite, functioning scientific brain cells to observe an anomaly. She sees floating magical entities eating premium dairy. She doesn't just panic—she sits in her garage, acts as a literal engineering prodigy, and Builds a high tech ghostbusters vacuum to capture ancient cosmic deities. And what does the city do?! They laugh in her face on national television! Ladybug and Cat Noir literally staged a multi-layered illusion just to make a tenured science teacher look like a flat-earther crackpot!!! Why Did they destroy her proffecianal credibility for covering up their own tracks!?
The new york trip: This broke my heart into a million pieces. She was so excited to go to America and share her deep love for science with the kids. And what did that dumb, ungrateful class do?! They groaned out loud right in front of her face the second she was announced as the substitute! They treated her curfews like a prison sentence and left her sitting alone in a depressing hotel room grading papers while they snuck out to rooftop parties. Why couldn't they have involved herrrr. Imagine her at a street cart running a chemical analysis on the Maillard reaction of a New York hot dog! She was robbed of her hot dog moment and I will never forgive them!!!
the principal switch : She took over the school in Season 5 and ran it with actual, structural perfection. No drama, no corporate favoritism, just pure administrative logic. And why did they immediately snatch the keys back and give the job right back to a man who wears a fake plastic owl costume to feel important?! Paris district budgeting makes NO SENSE.
We need her respects
She is named after Dmitri Mendeleev! She is the literal human manifestation of the Periodic Table! She has zero time for the Main Character Syndrome running rampant in that school. If Marinette stutters, she gets detention. If Kim acts like a clown, he gets locked down. She is the only person in that entire city who looks at a teenage superhero swinging on a string and has the appropriate survival instinct to be concerned!
