I FOUND THIS IN SOMEONE'S RULES, AND IT'S RELEVANT
I like to know my writing partner. This isnât always necessary, and if youâre not the sort of person who tries to get chummy with their roleplaying buddies, thatâs absolutely fine, but in my experience, the plots and characters that last the longest are the ones with the players that I can message at 3 in the morning with an idea without feeling like Iâm bothering them.Â

Fashion aside, it was about comfort. And what was comfortable, was not several kilos of armour on a sunny day. It was in the knight's best interest to take heed. If the older man became a steamed dumpling in his own suit, it was his own conscious decision.
"Oh of course." Sarcasm dripped from his words, but it was habit rather than true expression. "The promised rehabilitation. Zidane's promise mind you, and not mine." Kuja waved a hand dismissively.
"You make an excellent point. The Ice Cavern is prime real estate. I don't imagine many buyersăŒ nor anyone in the market really, for that little hole in the wall. Without any monsters, don't you think it would make a fine palace? I'm sure the Wyerd population won't mind if I start shearing them for coats and throws..." The corner of his mouth curled into a smile of sorts.
"Our lovable moron couldn't make it to my evaluation. And I know it just simply won't do to have any amount of prolonged silence or non compliance on my end, so... Here you are. Another lovable moron to negotiate my life sentence with." He dropped the smile instantly.
"The sole thing I require of you, is that the evaluation remain brief, and private. Ask to see whatever you please, or don't. I don't care. But if you can afford five minutes of one on one conversation concerning my needs, I won't make this any more painful than it needs to be. Do we understand eachother?"
As only answer to Kuja's childish taunts, Steiner rests his hand on his sword's handle. "Be as it may, you seem to have forgotten that said 'morons' hold your life in their hands, and that It isn't too late for me to correct this perceived mistake. From now on, I suggest not only compliance, but a better tone of voice as well as choices of words, shall we are to stay in good terms." Least Kuja finds himself skewered by steiner's great sword and reunited with necron in an early grave.
Surely Zidane and his sister could mourn Kuja a second time.
Surely.
"Now, if you have no more grievance to share with me, let us continue." No, Steiner was not having a good time, but enduring was among his biggest strenght. And to be perfectly honest, Kuja was far more annoying that the sun, if one would believe it. "....Please lead the way."
Of all of Zidane's friends, the knight in tarnished armour was not the worst âbabysitterâ he could have been buckled with. Alas, the same sense of unease sat just beneath the surface of his skin as it did with any other once he finally arrived at his appointed 'pick up' zone; a faint but irksome blemish that joined the small speckles that had been left upon his conscience over the last year and a half or so. Minor discomfort in his case was a privilege, but pride proved hard to kill, especially in the face of the victims he knew by name.

In the usual fashion of the Outer Continent, the sun was harsh. It was sensible to wait where direct light wouldn't cook them alive. The village's thatched cottages and sheltered walkways created reliable shelter from the elements, and it was at Kuja's request to meet right in the thick of the remote village. In plain sight. Where everyone could see him. To be under constant surveillance seemed to make everyone still apprehensive about his existence feel a little bit safer.
"Must you insist on wearing all that? Do you not experience the seasons, Steiner?"
"And must you insist on staying as irksome as ever? Water under bridges, your past actions aren't." In Kuja's case, flash flood was also an acceptable term, with equally disastrous results. "I am not here to discuss the latest clothing trends in treno, I am here to reassure her majesty, and ensure, shall i see the need, your continued.. 'rehabilitation'." Thus spoke Steiner.
"Now, if the heat causes you grief, mayhaps the ice caverns of the mist continent could make for a more... refreshing home. Think about it, next time your pride speaks in your stead." Knight as he was, his patience wasn't endless for seemed like a political charade at the best of time. "Now speak, what is it that you want? I am not cruel as to deny Zidane's brother his most basic needs."

It looks like he wants to fight the soldier even more now. It seems that all that boasting the other did only made him want to fight more.

Alexandria had been enough in troubles already for random mercenaries to fuel a fire that should have been stopped long ago.
With a heavy heart, and a very visible bore, Steiner concludes that accepting this duel is sadly the only proper course of action.
Aaaah, why couldn't these things happen to Beatrix instead, for once ? He always had to be the one dealing with the oddities.

Steiner, while book and money smart, was never great at reading people. Today, dantarg will teach him a valuable lesson about social cues.
"My body is trained, to fight the strongest. Be it behemoths, or giant dragons." Because the crater and disaster he had caused while fighting could not be understated in honesty. Dantarg mercenary efforts weren't limited to such small enemies like humans.
"I only want to fight the strongest. So tell me, are you the strongest?"
"And? You speak of these as if they were feats. The burmecians next kingdom over have made an art of ending dragons generations ago. I have slain some myself. Hell, quinna, a traveling chef I have the pleasure to count as friend, did prepare a wonderful supper with their meat, I-." Steiner stopped himself. Dragon meat, while prized for some reason, was not to his taste. The secret resided elsewhere, in the spices and the marinade employed for the meal.
"If a duel is what you seek, you are more than welcome to train down in the fighting's pits, but nowhere else. Alexandria is my kingdom's peaceful capital, and I will not tolerate disorder on its grounds." Steiner definitively looked like he could back his words up, in spite of his look, and his armor's worn look. "Are you looking into causing troubles?"
"Your muscles are...suitable. But I feel that you do not train enough to even compete with me."
the mercenary, half naked already says. Though he was always in a state of half nakedness. So there was really nothing new to complain about.

These words hit Steiner somewhere none of the women warriors of alexandria could ever hope to: his masculine pride "...My muscles are more than adequate for my daily tasks." is his answer. And if needed be, to swat away the dregs of his kind, selling their swordmanship like common goods. This, Steiner kept to himself, not wanting to start a fight so early in the morning.
"And if you have more than enough time to tone your body with such diligence, then your life truly must be one of pure indolence. A real shame, if i may say so myself."
