The master piece of the Pitt is what is finally bringing me back to fandom, instead of just lurking. So this is my first post in three years. and Im starting to follow my favorite accounts bc 8/9 the accounts I followed haven't posted in the past year. Thank you Pitt and Mohabbot for bringing me back.
People romanticizing Kya’s life are missing or ignoring a huge part of her story, which is the theme of repeated trauma. The movie is too pretty, overly-saccharine, and paints Kya as this carefree marsh spirit who can’t be tamed. I’ve seen multiple posts of “Omg Kya is literally me, I want to live in a marsh away from people and society!” and “Kya living in a marsh is such a mood.”
While there are certainly alluring, positive things about the idea of living off the land and relying on yourself, Kya’s life isn’t an “aesthetic” or a dreamy wonderland. Kya’s life experiences include:
-Being a victim of and witness to severe domestic violence
-Losing her whole family by age 7
-She’s described in the book as nearly starving to death as a child
-Didn’t get an education due to parental absence/neglect and trauma by peers
-Sexual assault trauma
-Being dragged into jail and court
-Killing someone, which is traumatic no matter how justified
Kya didn’t exile herself to the marsh in a cutesy “I’m not like other girls” way, she did it because she was traumatized and had zero social skills. Remember, Kya WANTED to go to school and learn; she tried to reach out and make connections at various times. Movie Kya was doe-eyed and innocently sweet. Book Kya was borderline feral, absolutely filthy, wore clothes that didn’t fit her and certainly weren’t fashionable, had no access to education or medical care, and none of this should be portrayed as “omg, goals.”

“Bo-obbi!” Hunter calls down the stairs in a sing-song.
“Hu-unter!” Bobbi calls back, mocking his tone. Hunter finishes his walk down the stairs, wrinkling his nose at her imitation.
“Guess what today is?” Hunter asks, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
“Hmmm…” Bobbi knows the answer, of course, but she likes the look on Hunter’s face when he pouts. He’s just so damn cute, and it’s really not fair. “I have no idea, honey,” she lies, fluttering her eyelashes at him. “Why don’t you remind me?” She smiles at him, and he smiles back.
“Today is the day,” Lance says, stepping forward to wrap his arms around Bobbi’s waist from behind, “that you made the mistake of marrying me, again.” He kisses her neck quickly, and Bobbi can feel his smile against her skin.
“You mean today’s the day I trapped you, again?” She teases.
“Don’t you need honey for a honey trap to work?” Lance asks. He ducks out of the way of Bobbi’s swat, grinning at her like a madman.
“I hate you,” Bobbi says, rolling her eyes.
“Well, I hope you’re prepared to hate me for the rest of your life,” Lance answers. “Because I’m not letting go of you again.”
“Oh, you’d better not.” Bobbi ambles over to her husband, holding him close.
“Happy anniversary, sweetheart,” Hunter murmurs. He rocks onto the tips of his toes so he can be at the same height as Bobbi as he kisses her gently.
“Happy anniversary,” she responds softly.
It’s the first of many, many more to come.
(this was a part of my 100k celebration! i’m no longer taking requests but be on the lookout for more!)
Huntingbird for the ship ask meme
bless you for enabling me
Who insists they are an awesome dancer even though they’re terrible?Bobbi Morse has two left feet but no one must ever know this information.
Who likes to watch reality TV?They watch The Bachelor together. Neither of them are proud of this.
Who refuses to wear pants when they’re home alone?Again, totally both of them. Clothing is 110% optional in the Morse-Hunter household.
Who is the jealous/protective one?Hunter’s the jealous one, Bobbi’s the protective one.
Who goes all out on the holidays?Hunter. And it’s bad. So bad.
Who cries over books?Bobbi. Lance does not remember the last time he has read a book, let alone cried over one.
Who is terrible with kids?Kids make Bobbi nervous. She’s not terrible with them but of the two, she’s definitely the poorer with small children.
Who drinks too much caffeine?Bobbi. Bobbi. Bobbi.
Who could sleep for twenty-four hours straight?Hunter could and he has. Bobbi also could, but hasn’t (yet).
Who never wears matching socks?Hunter probably couldn’t find matching socks to save his life, so him. (Also, all of Bobbi’s socks are the same shade of black. So it’s not hard to match them.)
Who punches a tree when they’re angry?Hunter. Oh, Hunter.
Who gets scared by the toaster?Lance Hunter. My precious smol bean is afraid of toast.
🌏 + Detective AU + Huntingbird
It’s a rainy afternoon when Lance Hunter first walks into her office. He reeks of ozone and desperation, and Bobbi would have felt bad for him - if he wasn’t so damn annoying.
“I know Izzy, and she wouldn’t just up and run like this!”
“You know how many people tell me that, Mr. Hunter?” Bobbi asks, twirling her pen lazily in between her fingers. “She left you a note.”
“A note that’s not in her handwriting!” Hunter argues back. “Look, I have the money - you can have it right now, I’ll pay upfront. I just - I need to find Izzy.”
Bobbi looks him up and down. After spending the last fifteen minutes arguing with him, she’s not horribly fond of the man, but she has to admit, he’s persistent, and she can appreciate that.
“Fine.” She sticks her hand out, and Hunter withdraws a wad of bills, not even bothering to count them before shoving them at her.
He really is desperate.
Bobbi leans forward in her seat, placing her palms flat on her overcrowded desk. “Tell me everything you know.”
