Opening tonight during the Bellingham downtown art walk, 6-9pm! Dakota Gallery presents an exhibition by Skagit artists Troy Gilpatrick and Jasmine Valandani featuring photos, texts, sculpture and works on paper. “There Was No Shorter Way Home” alludes to experiences of journey, path and home as reality and metaphor. Troy Gilpatrick documents physical as well as emotional and spiritual journeying in the Cascade region, using text as a counterweight to the images. Jasmine Valandani employs found book papers and glass microscope slides to open up the overlooked or peripheral spaces that exist as containers for knowledge. Both artists’ works invite viewers to reflect on conscious way-making through reflection and attention, finding beauty and repose in the margins of our media-saturated world. @dakotaartstore_bham #dakotagallery #therewasnoshorterwayhome (at Bellingham, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/BncY7BghImA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1vurveep714xp
