It's interesting to see conversations about Harrowhark and gender, because she definitely does not fit into our traditional gender binary, but on the Ninth she conforms to the norms. She's a bald, grumpy nun like everybody else.
Necro/Cav relationships have more bearing on Dominicus society than gender relations (as seen by Harrow's conversation with Abigail and Magnus) and that coupled with the fact that there is a very complicated Dominicus social system Muir did not explain; being a necro, a cav or a normal citizen is basically akin to a secondary gender.
So in this post we discuss how John Gaius invented alpha beta omega dynamics....
sweet girls ^^
Hey Griddle. It's been a while.
Ianthe has such a shitty time...all the time, but especially in nona, it makes me hysterical
she can't be god's favourite even tho she's the only loyal Lyctor, because he has a daughter and that daughter is her crush's situationship, who she always looked down on because she thought Gideon was stupid, but now she gets all the good stuff for nothing?? she found her sister but apparently Corona became an enemy of the empire and she sided with the Sixth House of all people?? and then she gets outplayed by Palamedes Sextus, someone she always disdained and he proves to her that she's slowly becoming more and more like Babs. and then she watches Camilla and Palamedes perform the grand lysis and she realises that they weren't stupid for rejecting traditional lyctorhood and that she could've had something like this with Corona but now it's too late.
like, this sucks so bad i can't even-
this is about how it's sort of implied that they wash clothes entirely by hand on the houses (using constructs) which means camilla saw a washing machine for the first time ever on new rho
My favorite thing about the âLesbian necromancers explore a haunted gothic palace in space!â tagline is that every part of it is technically wrong. Only one of the two main lesbians is a necromancer, the gothic palace is not haunted, and they are on Earth for 90% of the book.
Rewatching s1 of HOTD and remembering just how close(cough gay cough) young Alicent and Rhaenyra were breaks my heart.
Also young Alicent deserved so much better, the scene where Otto tells her she should go visit Viserys just makes me feel for her so much. Emily Careyâs acting is honestly something I donât know if I appreciated fully upon the first watch, but they portray young Alicent so well, with all of the conflicted feelings and loyalties.

so far one theme of the 30s for me has been realizing that literally every human being on earth who appears completely cool and collected and together with it at first glance has some threshold past which enough known information about them will shatter that mystique completely. i don't even say this negatively or pessimistically it's just been helpful to keep in mind that we're all like that.
