a collection things iāve posted on ig!!
read classics - I know from experience its a slow but steady climb when it comes to reading classics, but itās a worth while experience to put yourself in world that so different from the world now but mirrors it quite the same. Reading classical opens you mind to how simple but complex the human race is. It might seem like chore especially if your not a reader but you can start by just picking a classical that ficinated you the most Ā and listening to it on audiobook first. After a couple times of listening on audiobook youāll get used to rhythm of the language and itāll be easier to continue reading on your own. Also, pro tips- if you really wanna kick it up a notch, write a short review for every classic you read to help retain the info.Ā
expand your genres- Ā Everyones knows thereās a lot to be learned from movies, tv show and music but for most of us, once we learn what kind of genres we like we tend to never branch out and this limits our learning. You donāt have to like every genre but exposing yourself to different styles of music and movies teaches you tolerance and after a while of forcing yourself to do this, you might find your pallet start to shift. Ā
watch youtube videos- This is one of my favorite ways to not only be entertained but to get a general overview of a certain topic, usually if it sparks my interest iāll do a little further research. Youtube channels such as ted-ed,Ā asap science, scishow and today i found outĀ do an amazing job of giving you a little bit of knowledge about everything.
listen to people who have different opions than you- I know this one is particularly hard one for most people, but your going to learn the least from having repeptive conversations with people with the same ideas as you. People with different opinions than you will have an impact on how you live your life wether you like it or not; its not your job to accept their ways of thinking but to understand why they think the way they do- you never know, you might just find that the other persons opinion has some merit and might make you more knowlegable about a certain situation. A great way to do this is to watch interviews, read articles about the opposing side of your opinion.
Accept that youāll never know everything- This is an important one, you may be thinking, how does this have to do with educating myself? well, I added this one because I truly feel like you canāt educate yourself without acknowledging your ignorance. A person who thinks they know eveything has no room to learn. One of the most powerful ways to educate your self is to accept that you are never going to be finished learning, this opens you up and makes you more receptive to lessons we learn in life everyday. So in short, if you want to be more educated, just live! weāre all life long students and thatās okay.Ā
How to Never Fall Behind in Classes
Alternatively titled: How to Use Your Planner or How Organization and Discipline Will Get You Better Grades
This is my full guide on how to use your planner effectively and make sure that you are never missing deadlines or falling behind in classwork and homework. This is definitely more about the university level and works best with a dated planner, rather than a bullet journal. Letās get started!Ā
Get all of your syllabi together and write down dates. Go through one class at a time and mark down all of your major tests and assignment due dates. I recommend putting these dates into the monthly and weekly views, and perhaps coming up with a symbol or other indicator that tells you they are of utmost importance.Ā
Make a weekly schedule of when to complete readings and do a weekly review of notes.Ā Instead of trying to randomly decide when to do these things, assign a date for each task for each class. If you have a tutorial on Tuesday, do the assigned readings for it every Wednesday. I recommend scheduling one to two weekly tasks per day, and to leave a few days open, whether it be weekends or days when you have a lot of classes.
Make a master list of assignments.Ā I find that sometimes, even having due dates in the calendar view isnāt enough, and they can still sneak up on you. The master list will be a good place to double check if you have any deadlines approaching easily.Ā
In the week or so before a due date, create a checklist of smaller tasks needed to complete the assignment. Set individual due dates for each smaller task by working backwards from the due date. Smaller tasks may include finding sources, making an outline, writing a rough draft, and editing and adding references to create a final copy. Write the smaller tasks into your daily to-do list.Ā
You can also do this with studying for tests, but the checklist would look slightly different. You could either sort by study method (first do flashcards, then do essay outlines, etc.) or sort by the topics you need to study.Ā
Stick to the schedule you have made. Obviously, if something comes up and you need to move your to-do list around, do so! But if you arenāt doing anything and you see readings on your list of daily tasks.. do them. Having the plan set out like this makes it easier for you to remain disciplined.Ā
Why use this method?Ā
By creating a schedule for repeated weekly tasks like completing readings, you make sure that you canāt repeatedly push off smaller tasks until you are weeks behind. I donāt think it is very reliable to just will yourself to do readings, or to keep up with them without tracking it.Ā
By writing down all of your due dates, you will never be shocked to find out something is due the night before. You will know and you will be prepared.Ā
By creating smaller checklists of tasks to complete before a major test or assignment, you will never find yourself in a situation where you have an essay due in a few days and havenāt even started. You will be following a timeline and making sure you donāt have to rush.
I know this system may seem rigorous, but planning is the only way you can keep on top of your workload in university! Falling behind is a lot harder if you are organized and disciplined, and being on top of your workload will help you a lot when it comes to exam times⦠no cramming and all-nighters if you have been consistent all semester!Ā
What I do before every semester! I will admit I donāt end up sticking to the plan, but it really helps just KNOWING that thereās assessment on, what it is, and when itās due. So many (SO MANY) of my classmates donāt even know when an assessment is coming up.Ā
Also the point about weekly tasks - all it takes may be 20 mins a week on a topic, and thatās part of it done. Do the small tasks firsts!
Everything Is Awful and I'm Not Okay: questions to ask before giving up
Are you hydrated?
If not, have a glass of water. Have you eaten in the past three hours? If not, get some food ā something with protein, not just simple carbs. Perhaps some nuts or hummus?Ā
Have you showered in the past day?
If not, take a shower right now. Have you stretched your legs in the past day? If not, do so right now. If you donāt have the energy for a run or trip to the gym, just walk around the block, then keep walking as long as you please. If the weatherās crap, drive to a big box store (e.g. Target) and go on a brisk walk through the aisles you normally skip.
Have you said something nice to someone in the past day?
Do so, whether online or in person. Make it genuine; wait until you see something really wonderful about someone, and tell them about it.
Have you moved your body to music in the past day?
If not, jog for the length of an EDM song at your favorite tempo, or just dance around the room for the length of an upbeat song.
Have you cuddled a living being in the past two days?
If not, do so. Donāt be afraid to ask for hugs from friends or friendsā pets. Most of them will enjoy the cuddles too; youāre not imposing on them.
Have you seen a therapist in the past few days?
If not, hang on until your next therapy visit and talk through things then. Have you changed any of your medications in the past couple of weeks, including skipped doses or a change in generic prescription brand? That may be screwing with your head. Give things a few days, then talk to your doctor if it doesnāt settle down.
If daytime: are you dressed?
If not, put on clean clothes that arenāt pajamas. Give yourself permission to wear something special, whether itās a funny t-shirt or a pretty dress.
If nighttime: are you sleepy and fatigued but resisting going to sleep?
Put on pajamas, make yourself cozy in bed with a teddy bear and the sound of falling rain, and close your eyes for fifteen minutes ā no electronic screens allowed. If youāre still awake after that, you can get up again; no pressure.
Do you feel ineffective?
Pause right now and get something small completed, whether itās responding to an e-mail, loading up the dishwasher, or packing your gym bag for your next trip. Good job!
Do you feel unattractive?
Take a goddamn selfie. Your friends will remind you how great you look, and youāll help fight societyās restrictions on what beauty can look like.
Do you feel paralyzed by indecision?
Give yourself ten minutes to sit back and figure out a game plan for the day. If a particular decision or problem is still being a roadblock, simply set it aside for now, and pick something else that seems doable. Right now, the important part is to break through that stasis, even if it means doing something trivial.
Have you over-exerted yourself lately ā physically, emotionally, socially, or intellectually?
That can take a toll that lingers for days. Give yourself a break in that area, whether itās physical rest, taking time alone, or relaxing with some silly entertainment.
Have you waited a week?
Sometimes our perception of life is skewed, and we canāt even tell that weāre not thinking clearly, and thereās no obvious external cause. It happens. Keep yourself going for a full week, whatever it takes, and see if you still feel the same way then.
Youāve made it this far, and you will make it through. You are stronger than you think.

I think the reason why i like journalling is because Iām afraid of forgetting the little special moments like my coworker thanking me for the things Iāve helped him with or that old lady telling me that Iād make a wonderful doctor. Itās nice going back to these moments when Iām feeling down to remind myself that there are still so many things to look forward to and itās worth waiting and working hard
oh and i also just like keeping track of my thoughts and feelings I believe future me will be so embarassed but hey it will at least be funny lol
as some of yāall might know, iāve wanted to be a lawyer since i was literally 12 years old. iāve dedicated almost all my spare time to educate myself on law and politics so that i can grow up and defend and get justice for my people and my community. so i could grow up and know how to protect my family against workplace discrimination or how to protect my friends from police harassment. itās my final year as an undergrad and i can almost see law school embrace me within its walls.
but because of a late car payment and 8 textbooks i need to buy, i canāt afford to pay the $180 dollars to take the LSAT this december. if i canāt take the LSAT, i have to wait an entire year before i could even think about applying. the deadline to register is October 18th - but I donāt get paid again until the 20th, which means theyāll add on an additional $100 for registering late that i canāt afford.
so please, if you have a spare dollar or two to help me out. or if youāre like me and money is tight, just please reblog this so other people can see it? thanks. love yāall.

things u should do at night
- wash ur face/take off all makeup - set ur clothes out for tomorrow - drink a sleepy tea or glass of water - put on some music (or not) and just daydream/reflect/think - dont look at ur phone!! - read ! (if u want to) - relax
Habits of successful students
Discipline: ādiscipline is doing what needs to be done, even when you donāt want toā, which means that you have to force yourself to start doing things.Ā
Concentration: when you make a real effort in your work (study, homeworks etcā¦) you will be more likely to actually focus, understand and learn.Ā
Organization: always set tasks and goals and organize a study-schedule. Maybe you donāt really want to plan all the week, but if you just wake up and open your agenda/bullet journal/iphone calendar and write down all the things you have to do, setting due dates and deadlines, youāll feel more conscious and encouraged to stay on track.Ā
Tasks-splitting: sometimes, you write down your tasks. Some of these tasks may be very hard and complicated, and it will take a long long time to complete them. So, you can split them in smaller tasks, so you will feel satisfied after a shorter period of time, instead of studying for hours and still seeing that chapter undone on your study-schedule.Ā
Watch the sunrise: when I wake up late, I feel like I donāt have enought time to do my work and lose my motivation. I literally panic and then I think āwhatever, I could not complete all the things anywayā. So, if you wake up earlier you will feel more positive and Ā controlled.Ā
Smart reading: try not to read your textbook just like a newspaper. For every paragraph you read, try to underline and write down key words and then your question about that subject. Literally, turn your textbook into questions. If you write down question - particularly whyā¦? - and think about the answer, you will be more likely to remember that stuff later.Ā
Healthy lifestile: if you donāt drink enough water in the morning, you will be more likely to have a decrease of concentration in the afternoon/evening, so: stay hydrated. Try also to have some snaks every one-two hours: feed your brain.Ā
HEALTHY LIFESTYLE IS SO IIMPORTANT!!! Itās hard to stay on top of your work if youāre sick all the time. If possible, live a healthy lifestyle and try not to get sick, donāt take your health for granted.Ā
