Static by Coipel!
So now that we're only some days away from issue 3...
What can we say is the state of the Static and greater Milestone fandom?
I'm mostly only active on here, Insta, and FB. And across those platforms I see the most support for current content on FB. On Tumblr it's all about the cartoon, and on instagram it's all about the cosplays and the fan art, almost exclusively of the cartoon. YouTube has reviews but...yeah I as a rule avoid media reviews on YouTube. And the FB pages I follow are full of older fans.
I don't see much talk about the comics here on Tumblr, which is...astounding. like, not to name names but certain blogs I follow will still post about the most obscure comic characters who don't even have solos out. And I'm not hating on them, but it is kinda eyeopening when I can look up a niche character that hasn't had a major solo run since, like, 2001 and see oodles of content, but for Static--a character whos return was so hyped up--it's mostly just stuff about the cartoon. The way that people hyped Static for so many years would make you think his return would be a huge cultural moment close to, if not exactly like, when BP premiered. But that's not happening. It isnt even close.
Does the Static fandom know that there's new content out? Content that we can go out and buy and read? I know I personally need to do better at posting my comic hauls and reviews when new issues of Static come out, but I'm still surprised that I don't see more people really talking about this.
Static fandom, where are ya'll? How many of your friends are getting into comics now that Static's back? Where is the Static fandom most active and what type of content do they make?

actually im not over this fucking crap COMICS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR EVERYONE the fact that these clearly insecure man children are constantly spamming bullshit fear and hate mongering content on youtube is so baffling to me ,its one of the reasons i want to make a comic book channel just to troll them , i read things with white male leads daily and some of them are awful but i still read them , like honestly there’s TONS of bad white leading comics yet they dont say anything but when it stars minorities or lgbt characters they immediately target it like nigga we can make mistakes ,they have room to improve ,miles was awkwardly written by bendis but he got better LET THEM GROW, they legit target anyone that’s different from them especially black woman, holy shit the stuff they said to Riri??? ppl were complaining about lunella replacing moonboy……MOONBOY?!? who the fuck cares about moonboy??! kfkghfghkk he only became relevant because of her and the best DC book out rn is far sector yet they cant get past her being black and bisexual, Superman smashes the Klan , GL legacy were all great fun stories but wait the main character is asian? superman fights racists and nazis?? OH NO ITS AN AGENDA!!!! like ok dude go read your trash ,why r u still here???? your buying the book so its supporting them so thx i guess sd;ifhdk;ghdghka;ga
like nobodies reading iron man rn why aren’t ya’ll complaining about that???batman is turned into an abusive asshole that only cares about selina…..NOTHING anyways ill stop thinking about this
I’d love to see more call to action like this from Vic
Dc needs to keep black writers on cyborg and cycle them into justice league stories cause only then will we get the gem of cyborg turning human around the justice league

The Imitation of Life? It’s pretty lifelike!
Cyborg Vol 1: The Imitation of Life - Review
Finally, on to the big boys. And by that I mean characters that I actually know a little bit about. Cyborg, many of you may remember was an integral part of the Teen Titans animated roster. Then after the New 52 reboot, he was promoted to the big leagues literally; The Justice League. Although he’s proved himself more than enough as a global hero, I do miss his adventures with the smaller teams. Oh well.
Given that he’s never really been a solo hero, I was interested to see how DC comics would tackle the fact that he has very few adversaries. The Imitation of Life tells the story of Cyborg trying to come to terms with his half robot, half human status and what it really means to be a human. You have a sinister force in the background who appears to stand for all robot kind, but we never get a chance to find out who he or she is. I actually really appreciated this, in this graphic novel, as it allows the tension to build up, without giving away too much.
The final issue also introduces the prospect of a female cyborg, which although would be great to give Cyborg company, I thought was a bit of a cop out. I mean does she have to be a half robot, half human? Saying that, I may be proven wrong and she may be an amazing character.
I liked the artwork in the first half of the novel, but it seemed a little simple in the second half, not that I didn’t like it. Overall, I have to say was surprised about this novel. I didn’t expect to enjoy Cyborg’s solo adventures this much, but I actually want to know what’s going to happen.

Finally, his iconic catchphrase returns!
You’ll enjoy this if:
1) You like robots
2) You like those existential questions about humanity
3) You’re a fan of traditionally team characters having solo adventures
