Double episodes are never a good thing :/ For a premiere or a special sure, but not for regular season airings. This is what they did with the final ‘season’ of Parks & Rec. (Double episodes to get them out of the way sooner so they could air other ‘preferred’ shows. This is the time to watch LIVE and DVR the episodes, then watch ONLINE and get your friends interested in the show! Double episodes mean that the ratings probably aren’t as great as the network wishes, let’s give them that and keep our show strong for a 5th season.

Why can't he start a business in a weed-legal state? Because other people got arrested for growing and distributing while it was illegal or doing it in a state it wasn't legal in? That argument doesn't make sense. It's not this guy's 'privilege', it's the government and the war on drugs in the first place. His privilege wouldn't enable him to do this in a non-legal state, he's running his business where the law allows it, there's nothing to 'check'.

   people (mostly white, i’ve noticed) who don’t get why many (mainly fans of color esp. black fans) were annoyed by the lack of shadow in this week’s episode of american gods must be really oblivious to how media treats black characters. in the past year alone, i can count multiple black lead characters who were killed off their shows even tho their lead character status should’ve meant they were “safe” or had “plot armor”. 

       the first thing you learn as a black fan is that no black character is safe from mistreatment, death, suffering or being relegated to the background so a white character can shine. i don’t even dislike laura or mad sweeney but the entire episode didn’t need to be about sweeney and laura’s road trip or essie mcgowan. it could’ve easily been 20-25 minutes. 

      this season only has 8 episodes and if i’m not gonna get to see shadow, i’d rather see bilquis or mr nancy or mr ibis and jacquel. hell, i’d like to see other immgrant gods like kali or ganesha who appear in the book. i’m always worried about the fact that shadow could be made a secondary character on his own show and all the little articles and posts saying laura is the real star of american gods or she’s the most interesting part doesn’t make me feel any better.

Girl.. Shadow wasn't in these chapters of the book either wyd. If a character isn't progressing the plot I don't want to see them written into it bc that gives everyone a reason to hate the character (See Piper in OITNB)

that’s how it ends? it feels like they needed another episode to wrap things up.

there better be a season 2. after getting over how confusing all the new faces were, it was super enjoyable and i loved the direction the plot went in. but only lionel’s story got wrapped up well, everyone elses’ is just.... unsatisfactory.

smh i wanted sam to at least be in a relationship with someone!! why even have gabe show up at the protest if he was just going to leave? that made no sense, they were on a path to getting back together it was really out of how they built his character to just leave idk. i like how the show gave non-poc a window with sam and lionel’s relationships (even though the latter sort of came out of no where), so it’s disappointing that they dropped that arc 

and coco’s hero/anti-hero story literally didn’t get settled at all? she just held the town hall and then suddenly she’s on sam’s side again? 

anyway, i don’t remember joelle from the film but i love her in the series anyway, great character.

any word on a season 2 or does netflix usually wait for a response if it’s a first season?

Is this indication we’ll have a new class of Hunter/Warlock?

Are Ikora’s group and Cayde’s group simply separated from Zavala’s group and she simply let Cayde give the speech seeing it’s totally in his personality to REALLY want to make it?

Or does this have no narrative bearings at all?

Friendly reminder that the Defenders are, as a whole, made up of 6 women and 3 men, represent seven cultures, explore aspects of mental illness, abuse, sexuality, and immigration. As a Chinese-American, I'm disappointed as well, but don't throw out the entire series because you're butthurt over one character. Tell Netflix now they can improve going forward but don't boycott the most diverse MCU plotline that could influence larger media and increase the likelihood of more stories like this. Just because one part of a story isn't perfect doesn't mean we need to ignore the good parts of it too.

I don't get why people are shitting on this show?? It hasn't done anything wrong and Colleen is slaying my existence??? It may be slightly slow but it's more of an origin story than any of the other Netflix Series. It deals with mental illness EXTREMELY well and the main character's moral compass and strength are drawn from his experiences rather than him taking credit for it on his own. It seems like a lot of people are judging it from pre-conceived notions and opinions. It's a character-driven story more than one driven by conflict. Being an immigrant myself it's a good representation of how coming back home after living in a different set of customs can be scary, and you can end up alienated and feeling like you don't belong in either place.
