You're stuck in a closet with Caine
This is kind of bad i apologize in advance i just thought it'd be funny warnings: jax is here okay good luck
"Now what do we do?"
The question hung in the air, no answer to be found. You don't know how you ended up in this predicament. Scracth that, it was that stupid purple bunnys fault you were stuck in a closet with the ringmaster.
Jax had been slowly getting back at everybody who voted yes for the whole 'maid dress' incident. He'd 'accidentally' shown Gangles drawings to everyone, threw almost all of Zoobles parts away blaming the gloinks, Ragatha was still cleaning centipedes out her room, and then there was one. You.
You had nothing embarrassing hidden in your room, your parts were all comoletely attatched to you, so far he hadn't figured out any irrational fears of yours. That is, until he caught you staring at Caine once. Twice. A handful of times, and that was enough evidence for his gears to click together in understanding; you had a crush.
You naively believed that he had forgotten about your part in the incident, after all, he never really played any tricks on you. Something about your reactions being too boring. With all the innocence he had, he proposed a game night.
It was...actually rather fun. You played charades, pictionary, truth or dare, and everyones favourite; seven minutes in heaven
"Classic party game," Jax stated, "I think we could spice things up though!"
Truthfully, he seemed like the only one who really wanted to play. Everyone else wanted out but he insisted, arousing your suspicions. You were hit with the fact that this whole thing was organized by the guy who tormented everyone. A shiver ran down your spine, what kind of trick could he pull...
"Gooooood eveming my rising starfish!"
That voice was the last puzzle piece in your mind. The game, the Caine, the doofus little crush you had that meant nothing.
"Caine! What a surprise!" Jax made a point to side eye you. "Glad you could make it to the game."
Caine bowed, "It's truly an honor that all of you wanted me here!"
"Since when--"
"Ahp," Jax put a finger to where Zoobles mouth would be, "since always."
The others were rightfully confused. It seems they hadn't caught on to you. Why would Jax invite Caine to a party? They were already skeptical when he presented the idea of a game night for everyone to 'relax' snd 'have fun', this only further irked them.
"Oookay well," Pomni narrowed her eyes, "how do we start?"
"I want our ringmaster here," he pointed at Caine, "to be stuck in the closet with you."
His finger was right in your face for effect, that same grin plastered across his face as if trying to say he got you. You glared at him, "That is not how it's decided--"
"Consider it done!"
With a snap of his fingers, you were sat in a closet with Caine. The two of you were kneeling, knees barely grazing one another.
"Now what do we do?"
You spluttered, "Nothing!" You had no answer. You knew what...normally went down here, but there was no way in this digital real. did you want that to happen. You were also a fairly certain it wouldn't be possible.
"Oh," he deflated, "don't human party games have some sort of twist to it? What's the fun in two people being stuck in a closet?"
"They get to uh," your eyebrows knitted together in thoight, "have nice conversations. Yeah."
He seemed to like that idea, perking up, "You mean, you actually want to talk to me?"
You slowly nodded. This isn't going where you thought it would, but listening to Caine talk didn't seem so bad. He had a weird charm about him, "Sure, anything at all."
He hummed, scratching below his eyes, "What do you think about the adventures?"
Ah, you had a feeling that would be his burning question. He had a knack for always wanting to know everyones thoughts about his adventures and by proxy, him. You didn't blame him, it's literally all he's known. Admittedly, you didn't have much of an opiniom about the adventures. You'd go through it, live with probably a few injuries, the end. You guessed that wasn't the answer he was prodding for though.
"I think they're interesting."
Caines eyes shrunk in size, suddenly looking very serious, "Interesting."
You gulped. Did he not like that answer? You were sure anything positive no matter how small was enough to gjve him an ego boost. There was one time you told him his teeth looked 'extra white' and he was over the moon. You cringed at the memory.
He stayed silent for a few momentd longer, prompting your concern, "Uh, Caine? Was that bad? I honestly meant it positive--"
"Wowee!"
He raised his arms up in triumph and attempted to fly up for more pizzaz, but bumped his head on the low ceiling he forgot about, "Oh right, we're in a closet!"
You spring up slightly, "Are you okay? That looked like it hurt." He lifted his finger up, ready to answer that he doesn't really feel pain being an AI and all, but was stopped at the sensation of your hands on his face. He stilled as you worriedly scanned him over.
"I- I am fine!" He shouted, causing you to wince, "I can't feel pain at all!"
He gave out the forced-not-forced laughter. You let out a weak one in response, sitting back down, "That's good then..."
"Indeed it is," he regained some composure, "now then, please do go into detail about what you find interesting about the adventures my dear!"
Gosh, you cornered yourself. You barely paid attention during adventures, "The plot is so...plotty. Oh the NPCs are super realistic! And uhm," you scratch your chin, "the setting is always detailed..?"
He leaped forward, mere breaths away from your face, "You mean all that?"
Heat threatened to crawl up your face. Actually, you weren't sure if your avatar was capable of blushing. Right, his question, "Yes. Totally. All of it." You said it rather stiffly. Your mind was wandering. His eyes were different colors. They were glossy and shint and big and adorable. His suit was neat. His teeth were still teeth. He was still too close.
"Golly," he zoomed back from you, "I didn't know you liked my adventures so much!"
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. Has it been seven minutes? It felt like an eternity in here.
"Is that why you stare at me so often?"
It was your turn to freeze.
"What?"
"Staring!" He made a show of expanding his eyes, "I've seen you staring at me!"
You supressed a scream. You got caught staring at your crush like some silly highschooler. He noticed! How did he! You swore you only stared when he was occupied with something else. Then again he has all seeing eyes around this place.
"At first," he snapped you out of your thoughts, "I thought you disliked me, but then with this new information that you enjoy the adventures I'm less than sure!"
He placed his head on his hands, awaiting your answer. You blinked. Then opened your mouth, closed it, opened it again, "Ad-admiration?"
It was posed more like a question than an answer, but he seemed pleased. Small blush lines evident on his face, "A human admires me? Wow, today is just full of fantastic surprises!"
You nod vigorously, relieved that he bought it. It's definitely been more than seven minutes, yet no one brough you two out. Jax must be hiding the key or something, you weren't sure how much longer you could handle being so close to Caine without accidentally spilling your guts out.
"Right so I think it's about time we leave right?"
"It is?"
"Uh-huh, seven minutes and all!"
"But...I still want to talk..."
Oh.
"Caine..." you furrowed your eyebrows, did he think this was the only way you'd have a conversation with him? You wouldn't mind having one outside this cramped closet. His head was hung low. You felt your heart squeeze. Did this body have a heart? You waved the thought awsy.
"We can always talk," you gently lifted his head to look at you, "whenever you're free, whenever you want, okay?"
His pupils dilated drastically, "Really?"
You nodded with a small smile. He elated at that answer, his mood uplifted once more, "Great! Let's get out of this closet and back to our good old pals!"
He snapped his fingers and warped you back to the room. All eyes were on you two, Ragatha was the first to speak up, "Did you uhm, have fun?"
"Plenty of fun! Annnnnd now we're going to have more fun okay bye!"
"Wait what--"
Just like that, the two of you disappeared, leaving everyone else perplexed as to what just unfolded.
"Jax what the #%$& was that?"
"Ugh, boo I think they actually became friends."
