The Storm's Curse
with my sunless sea oc :3
Got an itch to play Sunless Sea again and it's always such an odd experience because. Like.
I know this game. Any other game, the level if knowledge and research I have put into this would make me a confident fucking master. And yet.
I can be reading text I've read dozens of times before and i still feel...not clueless, but absolutely off the mark. It all feels so familiar and yet I've never seen a victory condition. I've at least started pretty much every storyline but I'll still see something new each time I sink some time into it. I have a fucking JOURNAL of TRADE ROUTES and REQUIRED ITEMS and somehow that's only mildly helpful
That and the fact Fallen London's lore is so fucking batshit and honestly kind of hard to research (thr wiki's are frustratingly structured for me and the browser game is just. A bit inaccessible for me) means I can have a pretty solid understanding of what's going on in each port and what each faction is about and still ZERO FUCKING GRASP ON LITERALLY ANY PLOT
Inktober Day 29: Navigator 🦇
I think that's truly the funniest part of bragging rights in Fallen London. There really is very little to brag about them, because they are usually foolish endeavours that simply require you to burn costly resources or a ridiculous amount time in pursuit of them. Time that is, because of this being a time gated game, very much real world time. This isn't an hour of grinding. It's months of committing time every day, every few hours, every ten minutes when the candle lets you continue.
I hear them more regularly called "vanity qualities" or vanity projects, and that is far more accurate.
It's somehow very, very fitting for the alternate history Victorian era cosmic horror game.
I'll name this blemmigan Ethan Winters.
I’m always reliving London’s last night on the Surface. I try to put it out of my head, but it’s still there. The dimming of the sun at three in the afternoon. The sky turning the colour of rust. The horrible bang and the cloud of dust from the direction of Westminster. The tolling of the bells.

@failbettergames thank you for this.
Ferret: You don’t fit in either, eh?
Meeting Ferret in Mask of the Rose (2023)
Mask of the Rose characters as dril tweets.
Random motr thought for today: Milton's tie clip is the correspondence sigil "The Improbable Collusion of Two Unrelated Perils" (from sunless skies)
Hearing the noise Curators make just before they attack in Sunless Skies in this game isn't very reassuring.
It sure is telling though.
I have to admit, I'm not entirely sure why someone getting killed for religious reasons would be something to be proud of but hey. At least it's something.
As good a reason to convert to Christianity as any, I suppose.
Wish I had the luxury of choice, rather than be born into it.
I have to say, seeing a woman say this about a man is definitely a first for me. Usually it's the other way around, especially in the old quasi-historical romance novels I tend to read.
