“FENCES” is the story of a one-time promising baseball player, now working as a Pittsburgh garbage collector, and the complicated relationships with his wife, son, and friends. The film’s ensemble cast includes Stephen Henderson (“LINCOLN”), Russell Hornsby (“Grimm”), Mykelti Williamson (“FORREST GUMP”), Jovan Adepo (“The Leftovers”) and Saniyya Sydney.
Paramount Pictures announced that it, in association with Bron Creative and MACRO, will make Academy Award®-winner Denzel Washington’s “FENCES,” in which he will star and direct. Based on August Wilson’s screen adaptation of his Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, “FENCES” will co-star Academy Award®-nominee and Emmy-winner Viola Davis (“THE HELP”). Both actors are Tony Award-winners for their performances in the play’s 2010 Broadway revival.

After 40 years of doing this work, I’ve formulated a detox program for you to cleanse the body and remove impacted waste from the body. Detoxing and fasting sets into motion the self-healing properties of the human body. Health improvements happen when the digestive system is given rest and the organs get ample time to repair and heal themselves. #QA21daydetox http://ift.tt/20gykTO

These quotes have been running through my mind
“Decolonization, which sets out to change the order of the world, is, obviously, a program of complete disorder. But it cannot come as a result of magical practices, nor of a natural shock, nor of a friendly understanding. Decolonization, as we know, is a historical process: that is to say that it cannot be understood, it cannot become intelligible nor clear to itself except in the exact measure that we can discern the movements which give it historical form and content. Decolonization is the meeting of two forces, opposed to each other by their very nature, which in fact owe their originality to that sort of substantification which results from and is nourished by the situation in the colonies. Their first encounter was marked by violence and their existence together–that is to say the exploitation of the native by the settler–was carried on by dint of a great array of bayonets and cannons…The naked truth of decolonization evokes for us the searing bullets and bloodstained knives which emanate from it. For if the last shall be first, this will only come to pass after a murderous and decisive struggle between the two protagonists. That affirmed intention to place the last at the head of things, and to make them climb at a pace (too quickly, some say) the well-known steps which characterize an organized society, can only triumph if we use all means to turn the scale, including, of course, that of violence.” Frantz Fanon, Concerning Violence (The Wretched of the Earth), 1961
“The history of unpunished violence against our people clearly indicates that we must be prepared to defend ourselves, or we will continue to be a defenseless people at the mercy of a ruthless and violent, racist mob. We assert that in those areas where the government is either unable or unwilling to protect the lives and property of our people, that our people are within our rights to protect themselves by whatever means necessary. I repeat, because to me this is the most important thing you need to know. I already know it. We assert that in those areas where the government is either unable or unwilling to protect the lives and property of our people, that our people are within our rights to protect themselves by whatever means necessary.” Malcolm X, Speech at the Founding Rally of the Organization of Afro-American Unity, 1964
“The facts make it unnecessary for us to prove that the essential instrument of imperialist domination is violence. If we accept the principle that the liberation struggle is a revolution and that it does not finish at the moment when the national flag is raised and the national anthem played, we will see that there is not, and cannot be national liberation without the use of liberating violence by the nationalist forces, to answer the criminal violence of the agents of imperialism. Nobody can doubt that, whatever its local characteristics, imperialist domination implies a state of permanent violence against the nationalist forces. There is no people on earth which, having been subjected to the imperialist yoke (colonialist or neo-colonialist), has managed to gain its independence (nominal or effective) without victims. The important thing is to determine which forms of violence have to be used by the national liberation forces in order not only to answer the violence of imperialism, but also to ensure through the struggle the final victory of their cause, true national independence.” Amilcar Cabral, The Weapon of Theory, 1966
“When you talk about a revolution, most people think violence, without realizing that the real content of any revolutionary thrust lies in the principles and the goals that you’re striving for, not in the way you reach them. On the other hand, because of the way this society’s organized, because of the violence that exists on the surface everywhere, you have to expect that there are going to be such explosions. You have to expect things like that as reactions…when someone asks me about violence, I just, I just find it incredible. Because what it means is that the person who’s asking that question has absolutely no idea what black people have gone through, what black people have experienced in this country since the time the first black person was kidnapped from the shores of Africa.” Angela Davis, 1972 Prison Interview

#dontforget #spreadtheword On August 12, 2014 Mya Aaten-White was shot in the head while leaving a protest in Ferguson, MO. Police neglected to contact her and in exactly 8 months (on April 12, 2015)have not interviewed her about her case; the bullet she was shot with is missing; and 911 claims to have no record of a call. On April 12, 2015, to spread awareness about the failure of police departments to investigate in this matter and thousands of others, post this photo along with the hashtag #august2april
