Committed to Assisting Students teaches stress management to lessen harmful behaviors such as depression and suicide for high school and middle school students. We do this by creating programming for teachers and schools, training teachers and schools how to effectively offer these programs, and continuously working with teachers and students to find their perspective. This is the goal for our organization - but we need your help to get there. Our donors have helped us get incorporated and apply for 501c3 status, but we have so much more work to do to get this organization really off the ground. These shirt purchases will allow us to publish our first book of lesson plans. After the book has been published, we will start outreach to schools and find places to test this first program, allowing for expansion, innovation, and a chance to help students across the country. This will require additional fundraising in order to cover costs of things like transport to do the trainings. This org means the world to me, because I saw the impact that harmful behaviors like suicide, depression, and mental illness, had on students in my school because of the stress of expectations. I do not want the next generation of students to grow up experiencing the same stress. I am personally committed to assuring that students will receive support and care - I am committed to assisting students. Help me keep that commitment by purchasing a shirt.

Other than Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, is there any other show in which a main male character spends multiple episodes of his narrative arc wearing a flower crown that no other character even mentions?? Even the punk rockers who Vogel calls his family just accepted it totally, as did every other character, instantly.
I love shows brave enough to challenge ideas of what male characters are allowed to be like. The men in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency are so sweet, emotionally open, and so very respectful. This is one of the only shows I’ve ever seen absolutely refuse to associate traits often stereotypically associated with femininity – like kindness, compassion, and softness – with negativity in any way, and I love the comfort of that.
How to draw feet: scanned pages from a handbook explaining just that. Feet and shoes. That’s the great thing about drawing, or art in general: it can all be learned. Everyone can become good at it.
How to draw hands can be found HERE.
And clothing HERE.
I wonder if this is Osric Chau’s side business.

Who we are Hi. My name is Julia. I’m a junior at the University of Cincinnati, studying entrepreneurship and marketing. My partner, Sam, lives in Corpus Christi, Texas and through recent setbacks has stopped teaching. Together we have created a program that teaches stress management to reduce harmful behaviors such as depression and suicide to primary and secondary students. What we’re raising money for Suicide is the second leading cause of death for people aged 12-18. We believe that this problem is due to the lack of intervention of stressors in student’s lives. Committed to Assisting Students (CAS) is an organization that creates programming to reduce harmful behaviors. We have developed our first program and are working to develop two more. The first CAS program will be a network of after school programs in high school and junior high. Sam created a series of lesson plans for a teacher to go through after school. They are mostly based around different ways to manage stress and the lessons are still connected to school subjects. We will offer these lesson plans to teachers who will be in charge of the after school program in their school. The after school program we are creating focuses on stress management in order to stop and identify stressors before they get to a point of chronic mental illness. The importance of that focus is that most stressors turn into a mental illness when stress in a student’s life goes without treatment. By allowing earlier intervention of stress management, schools will be actively preventing serious mental illnesses from developing. How the money will be used We had an organization that was test running the program in the schools they work with, however they have backed out on us mere weeks before the school year begins. We are left with only two schools testing the program, and very little time to find alternatives. To bring this program to schools that need it, we need to have outreach that requires resources we cannot afford. We can’t look for grants at the moment because I am a full time student and Sam has a full time teaching job. The money we already raised went to paying off the Foundation Group, an organization that helps small start up nonprofits like us get incorporated and receive tax exempt status. As of 07/26/2016, we are incorporated in Texas (meaning any donations after that date are tax deductable). To pay for the fee of appling for 501c3 status, we need about $500 more. The money will be used to pay off the application fee, as well as marketing and outreach materials to get our first program into schools. We will also be searching for publishing opportunities for the first program book. Why this means so much to me In my high school district there has been unprecedented numbers of suicides in the past few years. At my school specifically, there hasn’t been anything done to try and help the friends of those students or to stop other suicides from happening. Sam is passionate about this program because throughout the years of volunteer work in the school system; she can see the amount of pressure put upon our students, teachers, and counselors. She wishes to take a proactive approach to helping our communities reduce the amount of suicides, cutting, and other negative incidents that are affecting our communities. This organization means more to me than I know how to express. The fact that it’s moving as fast as it is just shows how needed the program is in schools. I’ll be thankful to reach this goal because it means I’ll have a chance to help so many people struggling in high schools. Don’t donate for me, donate for the students you know that are dealing with mental illness or have died from suicide. Other help you can give We really need schools to test the program. If you know of any schools that could use a program like this (that are in the US), let me know. If you are a teacher or student or alumni at one of those schools and can give us access to the administration, that is preferred. Thank you for all the support you’ve shown us
I co-founded a non-profit called Committed to Assisting Students (CAS). The mission of CAS is to teach stress management to reduce harmful behaviors such as depression and suicide for primary and secondary students.
In the spirit of CAS, Sam made a comic with the intent of teaching young adults that it takes hard work to be a good person, but that it’s worth it because of the rewards of being treated like royalty, and everyone who works for it deserves to be treated like royalty. Julia found a meaning in the idea of treating others how you would like to be treated, and being respectful.
If you donate to CAS in the month of January, you will receive a postcard with the an image from this comic as a personal thank you! For those of you that have already donated - look out for an email follow up about getting the postcard.
At the moment we are raising money to apply for 501c3 status, as well as placing our first program into schools.
Every little bit helps. Consider a $5 donation today! www.gofundme.com/wearecas
