Hello everyone! It’s been literally years since I posted but I’m back!
Happy 50 years of “(Sitting On the) Dock of the Bay”!
And on a more somber note, we recently mourned 50 years since the passing of the king of soul.
I am hoping to start posting here again, feel free to message me with any suggestions with what you’d like to see on here!

The Stax Records Muesum of Soul Music (http://www.staxmuseum.com/) is premiring the BBC documentry about Otis, "Otis Redding: Soul Ambassador" by Jeremy Marre. Doors open at 5:45 and there are two screenings, one at 6 pm and one at 7:15 pm there is limited seating and its at first come first basis, however admission is free. " One of the most influential soul singers of the 1960s, Otis Redding exemplified to many listeners the power of Southern "deep soul" — hoarse, gritty vocals, brassy arrangements, and an emotional way with both party tunes and aching ballads. He was also the most consistent exponent of the Stax sound, cutting his records at the Memphis label/studios that did much to update R&B into modern soul. His death at the age of 26 was tragic not just because he seemed on the verge of breaking through to a wide pop audience (which he would indeed do with his posthumous number one single "[Sittin ’ On] The Dock of the Bay”). It was also unfortunate because, as “Dock of the Bay” demonstrated, he was also at a point of artistic breakthrough in terms of the expression and sophistication of his songwriting and singing.”

okay, so I think my game plan is to try and post all or most of Otis' discography starting from the beginning. I'm not sure if I'll try one song a day, or a week. Let me know if you have any suggestions. But how does that plan sound to everyone?
I'm going to start with Pain In My Heart. Hopefully I don't get anything really confused or out of order.

TODAY IS THE BIRTHDAY OF THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. He is 72. Otis Redding…can’t believe that I have this connection with an artist who passed away 21 years before I was born. I don’t believe in life after death, but if there is, my first sentence will be, “please show me where is Otis, because I just don’t want to deal with another life without someone like him…without him!” I know, I know, it’s all in my head, how can I know what kind of a person he was in real life bla…and so, and so…but still, please don’t disabuse my delusions logical me !
Happy birthday to the one of the greatest artists that has ever lived ! Happy birthday to a great voice. Happy birthday to a great soul. Happy birthday to my timeless love, Otis.
