it’s always the person A who falls asleep in person B’s arms, but why not person B who falls asleep holding person A?
so i had a great story idea yesterday in the shower
and it’s based on the immortal x reincarnated person trope, where— of course— the immortal is in love with the one who is continuously reincarnated over time, and tries their best to save them from death each time
but as history progresses, the reincarnated person becomes a slowly worse and worse person and the immortal finds that they’ve changed from the mortal they fell in love with forever ago, because the reincarnations are never the exact same person
except, of course, there’s still a part of the immortal that is still hopelessly in love with each reincarnation, because there is a part of them that is still the same as the original, maybe a small quirk like the way they smile, a quirk that the immortal remembers and wants so desperately to save
but the reincarnated person keeps getting slowly more twisted as time goes on, more obsessed with the concept of living forever, doing experiments to be able to stay with the immortal (who they fall in love with, too) forever, which always ends badly
so instead of the immortal having to save the reincarnated from death, they have to save them from themselves
and in the last life, the immortal realises that this person, who has lost themselves, is not the same person they fell in love with so long ago
if i had the time i would write this. and i would call it The Last Time I Fell In Love With You
