“Jay! What are you doing here?” you ask as he shows up unexpectedly, getting a quick kiss from you since you were happy to see him nonetheless.

“Ah, had a suspect run and fall. He demanded to get medical help, so I had Will take a look at him in there,” Jay sighs, obviously still annoyed at the antics of the criminal as he gestures to a bed across the way where Ruzek was keeping watch. You guess that Doctor Halstead was busy behind the curtain with the suspect. Jay’s demeanor changes as he gives you a teasing smirk, “But at least it worked out that I got to see you.”

“Bright side to everything,” you grin back, still getting butterflies nearly every time he looked at you even though you’d been dating him for almost a month now. “We still on for tonight? You know it’s late when I get off.”

“Hey, I don’t care how late it is, I still want to see you,” he fiddles with the badge hanging around his chest. “We can eat at one of those all-nighter places if everything else is closed.”
