Okay, don’t get me wrong, I love Tumblr. I’ve been here since 2011. But, I’ve also been roleplaying since 2009, and I’ve seen communities who reacted far more maturely to things that made them uncomfortable or that they didn’t like. Because of that sometimes I’m really confused with the whole negative culture that goes on here. Is it because there’s an opportunity to do it anonymously? I don’t know. Back when I started roleplaying it was the understanding of pretty much everyone that you didn’t have to go on the account of a person you disliked, you didn’t have to read their posts, and you certainly didn’t have to be exposed to their content. You could block them. There were fun things you could be doing instead that didn’t cause as much anxiety. I used to be pretty trigger happy with my block button. I still will be if the need arises.
I got kinda off track here, but, as much as I love this place, it’s a cesspool. So many of us are struggling with mental illnesses and awful home lives. I love positivity. I love positivity blogs where people can send in asks with people’s URLS so someone gets to know they’re appreciated. People deserve to know that they have value, they have talent, and they’re loved more than anything.
So I’m going to say it myself! I love you guys. I love reading your writing. I love writing with you, even if sometimes I suck and I randomly drop or lose things because I’m an anxious baby. You’re all very good people! And I want to get to know each and every one of you. And I want to be your dad and protect you and spread love for all of you everywher.
I’m so negative about it. Probably really unnecessarily so. I don’t think I do a good job conveying symbolism or using metaphors or anything like that. I used to, though. I used to write entire worlds to live, and I’ve watched over the years as that kind of slipped away from me. My vocabulary slid through my fingers and left me behind with something really dull. It bothers me a lot. Because I look at replies sometimes and get really upset because there’s so much more I could be saying and want to be saying but I can’t come up with the words I want to use to say it. I think I can attribute a lot of that loss to my depression. And roleplaying really lazily for a year and a half in a fandom that never wrote paragraphs. Ever. I got lazy and let it get away.
I am!!!! Really shy. And sometimes I’m also really afraid to follow certain people because I don’t know their fandom, or because I find their blog navigation confusing, or just. I don’t know? Sometimes I’m just like............. ????? On this subject. However, I never expect people to follow me back if I follow them. I’m not one of those follow-for-follow people. I’m just. Very Shy. I don’t know.
