“Some of Her Best Work” was inspired by an illustration called “A Morning Adventure with You” by @alphaofdarkness. In Rebels Season 1, Ezra showed Sabine where the stolen TIE Fighter was hidden, and Sabine created “some of her best work” when she spent the morning painting it and bonding with Ezra.

This is the first of four stories I wrote for the 2026 Star-Crossed Sabezra fanzine.

There will always be a soft joy and happiness to know that Ezra showed Sabine the TIE Fighter and was implied to have hung out with her to see her paint it before racing to meet with Kanan 😊 The scene was partially inspired by a short sentence from of a fanfic in the way it described Ezra looking at Sabine as she paints.

Summary:

Teenagers Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren are on an undercover mission to collect intel for the Rebel Alliance. Using the aliases “Riz Leman” and “Ria Talla,” they pretend to be a young couple touring one of the most popular art museums on an Imperial occupied planet. Ezra wants to flirt and make jokes on his “date” with Sabine, but she takes their situation more seriously in more ways than one. Security droids confiscated their weapons at the museum’s entranceway while Stormtroopers patrol the city. What could possibly go wrong?

Notes:

If you follow Eman Esfandi on Instagram, you might have seen his hilarious photos from his visit to the Louvre museum in Paris. (He was staying in the United Kingdom for the filming of Ahsoka Season 2 at the time.) Eman’s silly photos made me think, “Yes, that’s something Ezra would do, especially if he was trying to make Sabine laugh.” This was my inspiration for this fanfic.

“Riz” was the name of the character Eman auditioned for in the Ahsoka series. He later found out that “Riz” is actually Ezra Bridger.

As for Ezra himself, he hopes that the rizz is with him as he flirts with Sabine in this fanfic. 😆

Thrawn stands before him, arms clasped behind his back and facing the wall in the shattered remains of his office. The Grand Admiral's collection of priceless—stolen—treasures is scattered about and smashed on the floor, and Ezra takes a bit of petty satisfaction in that.

The large chunk of retaining wall that Sabine had painted is leaning off its pedestal, with a prominent crack splitting it in half, but the orange-gold starbird still shines out clearly, unblemished, undamaged, a splash of bright color in the dour gray room.

Ezra wonders if it's some kind of lucky portent.

Longing

Hello there! 🤗 This fanfiction was written by me for the Star-Crossed A Sabezra Zine as a contributing writer. I hope you'll enjoy this fic! ❤️

Summary: Time had stopped in the tower where Ezra used to live. Everything was in its place. The unmade bunk, his collection of helmets - even the chronometer on the wall stopped working and was showing the same time. Nobody dared to set a foot in a place that once belonged to Ezra. Sabine is the first person to enter the tower only to be overwhelmed by memories. However, she isn't that lonely as she thinks, because apparently a loth-cat decided to "move in" - or maybe that's just a gift from the Force, to ease Sabine's pain.
