Continuation Story Ideas for Metamorphosis
I have a shit ton of ideas for the story going on in Metamorphosis (the cerebrum story I call it lmao) I'm just gonna list the ideas like bullet points. (These ideas are non canon as I don't consider the first story complete. And these ideas stem from a 'bad ending' perspective, though there's another (actual) ending after the bad ending, since if it were to be canon, Metamorphosis would have/be reborn twice.) - If you read all of this congrats, like seriously.. congrats.
Cerebrum (and Valdis) are fragments of the dead god Kieran, who had killed themselves via The Aetherfold they made (accidentally, they had suspected that their ability was like the other gods but that was not true.) long after being abandoned and outcasted by the other gods. However, Kieran's rebirth was premature due to The Aether tampering with The Aetherfold to create life, which resulted in Cerebrum and later Valdis being reborn as fragments of Kieran instead of whole. (Cerebrum and Valdis however only recall being creations of The Aetherfold and are unaware that they are the fragments of a dead god.)
The gods and Kieran did attempt to destroy The Aetherfold so it wouldn't exist at all, however their attempt to destroy The Aetherfold made it's slow expanse worse, as it triggered ''the 1st cycle''. (The 1st cycle being basically the 1st rebirth cycle. Since The Aetherfold consumes and recycles things.)
Souls exist, and The Aether are technically right (by chance purely) about The Aetherfold consuming the universe to rebirth anew, but their ideology and beliefs + actions are meaningless and harmful to all life. (In the possible idea that, The Aetherfold would've rebirthed Metamorphosis without The Aether's needless wiping out of people in belief that it'd ensure the souls would pass on to the next life. Metamorphosis's rebirth could've been existential still probably, but less violent and just inevitable and shit idk..)
In the 'bad ending' (aka, Nedrian falls and so does the rest of the worlds to The Aether. Valdis -and other not developed or made yet protagonists die- and The Aetherfold consumes the universe with nothing stopping it. The only ones to remain the same during the rebirth being Cerebrum and the cultists, and well.. Valdis, because only Cerebrum and Valdis retain their memories and body.) Metamorphosis is reborn, but The Aether declare themselves as gods over Metamorphosis. (They ain't real gods, just really arrogant now. Besides just delulu in general) The world/universe becomes corrupted under The Aether's reign and Cerebrum falls to the wayside. - Though Cerebrum canonically is initially worshipped to a degree (hence his ego about being a weapon. Like he's pretty prideful in it.), this change of dynamic causes Cerebrum to become essentially ignored and abandoned. He still has his presence but it doesn't matter now that his purpose was fulfilled.
The 'somewhat good' ending is a continuation of 4. Cerebrum reacts very badly to his (second) reality check where he realizes he was just a means to an end. He wipes out The Aether in a rage for being basically 'demoted' to just a abandoned tool because The Aether's members got too delulu and forgot who even got them there. He also destroys himself and the universe too.. Because he has no purpose so he's taking it out on everything. The reason why it's a ''somewhat good'' ending is the fact The Aetherfold just recreates Metamorphosis with a new ''skin'' again. And The Aether's members (because they had died) are no longer cultists because they have no memory of their past lives. (No one does, excluding Valdis and Cerebrum who remember everything).
Cerebrum still cannot feel sadness, empathy, sympathy (due to The Aetherfold, which Cerebrum and Valdis are still linked to, and The Aetherfold still exists just is dormant) but feels guilt in the form of self disgust, and grows obsessive with the thought of what other's past lives could've been/were. (He also just doesn't have the -emotional- tools to process anything regarding his actions while influenced by The Aether properly) Oh, and also nightmares/paranoia of The Aether somehow returning despite nobody even recalling The Aether outside of him and Valdis.
Rune gets reincarnated twice, so does everyone else. (Their forms/bodies change two times.) I have no ideas for Rune yet though, just that Cerebrum comes across Rune again. (Cerebrum's memory is still forever gone regarding Rune after The Aether memory wiped him, but Cerebrum feels unease/guilt in Rune's presence for a reason he cannot place.
Without the Aetherfold, Metamorphosis couldn't be reborn over and over. (The Aetherfold's reincarnation properties now only trigger when the universe/reality is utterly destroyed.) Any time a person dies in Metamorphosis, if the universe is destroyed the dead would be reincarnated. Otherwise, death is forever.
Cerebrum sort of changes/struggles to change entirely. His personality is altered a bit by his guilt, so he becomes closed off and distant. He still is socially inept aswell as blunt. He is trying to be better though, but his lack of empathy and sympathy make him awkward/silent during heavy things. He's still arrogant just not a showoff about his power anymore. He's no longer influenced by The Aether, so he actually has to form his own opinions and thoughts and struggles to do so. He doesn't really know what he is, if he's not a weapon. Eventually he probably gains his silly, not very serious and kind of detached (he's still mentally detached from things) enegry back and starts being more flamboyant again. (Btw Cerebrum will never be able to feel/experience certain emotions/feelings due to The Aetherfold, so his lack of empathy and sympathy would just be a consistent thing for him. But he's not exactly ''heartless'' either.) Idk how to explain it all very well, but basically Cerebrum but he's less of an ass and self aware of his actions in a different way than just indifference.

There's probably more, but my brain is going blank. So that's all.. I haven't really decided how I want the main story to go. (Whether I wanna go with a bad ending, or a 'good'(?) ending with The Aetherfold still inevitably probably consuming and rebirthing everything anyway.)
I do like the ideas, but I'm iffy about using them fr.
Enjoy the (non-canon) lore considerations though, if you read through all of it and found it interesting or cool in any way!
