I'm 21 and I've never had a real friend or relationship because I wasted all of my teenage years living out a fake life online.
It could happen to the best of us.
Are all of their photos professional looking? Do they refuse to video chat? They may not be who you think they are!
Be careful!
Keep these rules in mind when dating online for your safety! Better be safe than sorry!! :P
Discusses "catfishing" as a form of cyberbullying. Catfishing involves creating a fake online profile to lure another person into a romantic relationship.
It is important to make youngsters aware of online predators who can become a threat on their lives because we tend to trust people online and give away our personal information to strangers which can result in many harmful outcomes!!!
J: LOL!!! I do love it when they start trying to convince us that they are the real person attached to those pictures!! It’s hilarious!
Catfishing
Is This A Type Of Catfishing?
I'm 21 and I've never had a real friend or relationship because I wasted all of my teenage years living out a fake life online.
This is how easy it is to create a fake account, be careful who you talk to on the internet. You can be whoever you want on the internet, so don’t believe everything an online stranger says to you!
Tips on how parents can protect their teenagers
1. Don't give out personal information online. That means, your full name, address, where you go to school, where you work, or who your parents are. With the internet it’s easy to find someone and then zoom in via satellite to see where they live.
2. Don’t trust anyone, especially if you don’t know them from face to face encounters. People lie and all you are seeing are words on a screen. Even if you’re on Skype or FaceTime, who is to say the person is who they say they are?
3. Date people you know from school, work, church, synagogue, etc.
4. Don’t post questionable or risqué pictures of yourself. This includes those sleepover, beach or pool vacation pics.
5. Don't let your teen meet people he or she has met online alone. If your teen already has an online relationship and is reluctant to give it up, make sure you speak with the online friend's parents and arrange a time to meet all together.

This is quite telling of what society stands for and what it doesn’t accept. Regardless of the reactions of the people in this video, it is always important to be safe when meeting someone from the Internet. Doing so has become more commonplace than ever, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take precautions (source)
Katy Perry Breaks Silence On Catfish Victim Who Believed He Was Dating Her
Katy Perry has spoken out on the delusional fan who genuinely believed that he had been in a relationship with the singer for a whopping six years.
Spencer Morrill appeared on the latest episode of MTV’s Catfish, where hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph proved that he had actually been speaking to a random British girl called Harriet, thinking that it was Katy, for almost a decade.
However, Spencer refused to accept that he had been Catfished and Harriet later revealed that he’d even continued to message her Katy Perry account after the episode had been filmed.
Despite the fact Katy had been married to comedian Russell Brand for most of the six years and is currently in a relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, Spencer believed that she’d been hiding secret messages to him in her songs even though they had never even met face to face.
Now Katy has admitted that her heart goes out to Spencer, telling The Morning Mash Up on SiriusXM that she had heard the bizarre story, saying: “Yes, someone sent me a link, and I didn’t actually read through it because I just think it’s really unfortunate and very sad.
“My heart goes out to him actually because anybody that’s been fooled like that or just, you know, people have dreams, and people live in different parts of the world where not everything is always so accessible.
"I felt bad for him, and so I didn’t really like to indulge in that.”
Nev and Max have both said that Spencer’s Catfishing story was one of the craziest that they had ever dealt with in their years of filming the show, it is thought that Spencer has now accepted that he had not been speaking to Katy.
good bye……..
Beware of catfish.
Two days ago someone messaged me to tell me they thought someone had created a fake tumblr account using my images and name. Sure enough, at the address Audrey-Lavey.tumblr.com was a blog with my name, my images, even my bio, and it linked to my twitter. But I didn’t make it.
After posting about it on my twitter, it was deleted within 15 minutes.
In the next 24 hours, I’d have six ladies message me to tell me that they had been communicating with this fake account, thinking it was me, and had even formed friendships and flirtations with this person.
I was livid. At first I assumed that they were trying to get money out of people; why else would they imitate a sex worker? So many people think that this is easy money- I simply post pictures of my naked body and men respond by showering me with gifts and cash (I wish). But one girl told me that she actually offered him money and he (I’m referring to the fake account as ‘he’ because I can’t help but assume it’s a man) straight up refused, and even offered to purchase something from her.
I then assumed, since he seemed to mostly be talking to women, that maybe he wanted nudes out of the deal. Perhaps this is a man who watches the way female sex workers flirt with each other on the internet and became jealous of these interactions, wanting it for himself.
Then one of the girls told me he that the account began suggesting that they meetup. This absolutely shattered me. This makes this guy more than just an online creep, this makes him a predator, and dangerous.
What did he plan to do when she showed up and saw that he wasn’t me? The only way he would be able to proceed after that is by using force of some sort. So many awful scenarios are going through my head at this point.
I’m going to do what I can to get to the bottom of this, including contacting the proper authorities, and going down a few avenues of my own. If you had any contact at all with this fake account, please DM me. Parts of your conversation could include information that could give away this guy’s location or identity. I have reason to believe this guy is from the GTA, which means when I find out who he is, I can deal with him in my own way.
My accounts are:
email: [email protected] twitter: AudreyLaVey tumblr: AudreyLaVey.tumblr.com
ANYTHING ELSE IS A FAKE ACCOUNT. I will never ask you for money, I will never ask you for nudes, I will never ask you to meet up. If it seems fishy, contact me at my twitter. I will also always provide a sign if you’re unsure.
