I love you, love.
Who are you, love?
Only I truly know you
For we have shared together
The stories which we would
Share with no other
I adore you, love.
Without you I’d be
As pathless as a meadow
Whose flowers had all withered
Due to lack of their precious sun’s touch
Don’t doubt yourself, love.
You are capable
Of parting dead seas
So long as you don’t drown first
But in your moments of weakness
I will be there to help you stay afloat
For I love you, love.
And not even gravity
Could keep me away from you
And I’d rather any god smite me
than put me through the torture of losing you
I love you, love.

Skin Care For The Summer
Skin Care Tips:
•Always cleanse, tone, and moisturize (exfoliating helps too).
I know products tend to be a bit pricy, but skin care is an investment and the products do tend to last around six months depending on what you use. Cleansing takes most of the dirt from your skin, which is especially crucial in the summer due to the amount of sweat you produce. Toning balances your PH levels, and evens your skin tone. It also removes any excess dirt the cleanser did not manage to take off. And finally, moisturizer is pretty self explanatory. Very little of the water you ingest reaches your skin, as it’s the last place it goes to, so it’s always very beneficial to apply moisturizer so that your skin, which is your biggest organ, is properly taken care of. Exfoliating takes off dead skin, letting your baby skin be healthy and have access to all the nutrients you provide it with (click here for the best exfoliator). Personally, I love using a brand called Aloette. All their products use aloe as the main ingredient, which is especially good for your skin in the summer because aloe vera is one of the best things for your skin when you’re burned. It keeps your skin hydrated and soft. The best part is that a little of their products goes a long way, so they do last forever! Their starter kit for facial care that I would DEFINITELY recommend retails for $150, but is often reduced to $120. Maybe I will make an additional post reviewing the products.
•An obvious one: sunscreen.
You’ve probably been told to use sunscreen your whole life, which is a good thing! It may be tedious and annoying to take the time to apply sunscreen, but if you get a good one, it will moisturize and protect you from the sun. (If you wear makeup, apply some after your moisturizer and before makeup. If you wear foundations or BB creams, I’d recommend trying to get one with SPF in it. The Maybelline Dream Fresh is a personal favourite of mine, it has a buildable coverage, it moisturizes my face, it has yet to look cakey on me, it does not clog pores, and it claims to have SPF 30 in it. It retails for $10.99 Canadian.) Make sure that you protect your skin after removing hair, as well. Whether you shave, wax, or sugar, your skin is suddenly more exposed and is less protected naturally. I’d recommend cream sunscreens as you lose less product to the wind and have better control as to where you put it. They tend to have less alcohol in them as well, and are more hydrating.
•Avoid products with alcohol.
Sure, it’s summer and you want to go out and party with your friends, and there are many reasons why drinking is not a good idea, but it’s understandable as to why you would want to. I’m not telling you that you need to stop drinking completely, but cutting down would help a bit. However, drinking alcohol isn’t really what I’m talking about. Be careful with what sunscreen, makeup, and skin care products you use, because any products with alcohol may have negative effects on your skin. Alcohol increases the speed of aging, and so applying it directly to your skin, especially in sensitive areas like under the eyes, is not the best idea. It increases wrinkles and dries out your skin which is the reverse effect on what you want during the summer, or any time for that matter.
•HYDRATE!
I don’t know if it’s possible to stress this enough. Water is the most vital thing in anything you do on a day-to-day basis. It keeps all your muscles and organs working and you literally cannot live without it, so drink lots and lots of it! You know that already, though. It’s especially important in the summer because of the heat, which tends to make us sweat out the water we drink, and dries out our skin otherwise. Like I said, water reaches our skin last, which means alternate means of hydration is essential. Moisturizing, of course, and swimming in fresh water (not chlorine or salt water) can be very good to help keep hydrated. Face masks are another way I like to hydrate. Sheet masks, although messy, are very nice and soothing for the skin, and you can get them at your local dollar store. Just watch out for alcohol! My favourite way to hydrate, I think, is using the Nutri-Hydrating Mist from Aloette. Spray this on your face and body at any time during the day and it will give your skin hydrating nutrients and fight off any burning that may be happening.
•Wear sunglasses.
Your eyes and the skin surrounding them are very sensitive, and don’t take well to the sun. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s rays, and to protect the surrounding skin from burning.
Be safe this summer! Try not to damage your skin, as the sun can cause cancer or severe damage. You can follow these tips to avoid damage and go through summer happy, healthy, and glowy!
So I know I’m a polyvore fashion blog, but polyvore closed down, leaving me to find another platform to create outfits. I may start making collages, we’ll see. Nonetheless, I want to make more content, and since summer just hit, what better way than to help you all with tips to keep your skin healthy this summer!
