How To Get PaintTool SAI To Work With Huion Kamvas GT-191
2. Download demo/trial version of PaintTool SAI 2. Use your old license to get full access.
3. If it does not work after messing with every single setting suggestion, switching USB ports, changing monitor displays, making sure it is allowed through your antivirus program, etc, then uninstall your Huion Driver.
5. Find the "Huion Tablet" or "TabletDriver" folder or whatever the name was you saved it under during installation (it varies model to model) in your program files and delete it.
6. Go to "Windows (c:)", then click on the "Windows" folder, and then the "System32" folder.
7. Find "wintab32.dll" and delete it. It is a system file so you will need to do so as an administrator. Click yes when it asks.
8. Next, go back to the "Windows" folder and then the "SysWOW64" folder.
9. Again, Find "wintab32.dll" and delete it. It is still a system file so you will still need to do so as an administrator. Click yes when it asks.
10. Make absolutely sure your tablet is not plugged in.
11. Turn off your computer's antivirus program if you don't already have Huion set up to be allowed through it. My computer remembered this setting, yours may not so double check which apps or programs are allowed through first.
12. Go to Huion's website and download newest drivers (January 2018, I think) You may want to delete the old zipped and extracted driver files from your "downloads" folder or wherever first to avoid confusion.
13. Extract download, install new drivers as directed.
14. Wait a few moments to get a prompt telling you that you need to restart your computer to finish the install. It's fine if you don't get it. Just wait a few minutes and restart your computer. If the prompt comes up and tells you to restart it, then restart it again.
15. Then go to your task bar, all the way over on the right next to the time, there will be a small arrow pointing up with a pop up menu of your hidden icons. Press on it to bring that up.
16. Find the blue square icon for the Huion tablet driver, right click on it, and a small drop down menu will pop up saying, "quit." Click on it and make sure the square icon is greyed out in the hidden icons menu. Try again if it doesn't work.
17. Then right click on the desktop shortcut or in the Start menu or wherever and find "run as administrator." Click that.
18. The window might flash across your screen before very quickly shutting down. That's fine, just "run as administrator" again. The window should open. You will need to do this every time you use it.
19. Plug in the tablet, adjust the settings to your liking, and you should be good to go.
1. You may need to run SAI as the administrator as well. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason.
2. If your pen buttons stop working, you messed up a step somewhere or it installed wrong. Usually there are "wintab32.dll" files in both the "SysWOW64" and "System32" folders, but just deleting them doesn't work. Rinse and repeat.
3. It took me SEVERAL times to get it right. Not really sure why. Several downloads too. It might be because there are a lot of easy places to mix things up or my firewall didn't like the Huion website.
4. This only worked for pen pressure and the buttons. As far as the messy lines, I'm not having this issue.
5. You may not need to run the Huion tablet driver as the administrator twice. Sometimes it needs that second time to register it for me. Sometimes not. No rhyme or reason.
6. Windows Ink may still be messing with your tablet all on its own. Double check that before going all the way back through the process again. It might save you some time.
7. This may possibly work for other Huion/other brand tablets as I found this out from a ton of messed up tablet posts from all different brands, but I only have the GT-191 so I can't promise anything. I also haven't tried it with regular SAI, but it's possible.
@huiontablet @huion-tablet Maybe reblog/share/take note of this so others with the same problem won't have to spend days and days digging through obscure posts to find a solution. No rudeness intended. I was just getting very frustrated and fed up until I figured it out.
