my question but phrased better ➡️ if you're a music gif maker, how did you deal with the anxiety and decision to put OR not to put a watermark on your gifs even if there's a possibility it gets cropped out anyway and then reposted 😭💀 what helped you make your decision? sometimes we gif 🏴☠️ content so the material isn't ours in the first place, but it's the reposting/reclaiming (+ without crediting) when you barely get reblogs here that's annoying

I never really considered or had anxiety about (not) watermarking my bts gifs here because it's not really something that's done outside of kpop tumblr. in film/celeb gifing in general id say at least in the past (im obviously not as active anymore), there was a big culture of not watermarking + not reposting
I understand the frustration of not getting credit for ur work, but my thought is I want my gifs to look nice & uncluttered here considering they actually look HD unlike twitter, and also if they do get reposted to twitter the quality is almost always pretty horrible. these gifs are 540px wide vs twitter where 8-900 is my minimum, so if someone is going to repost my gif in terrible quality I don't necessarily want my name on it anyway
pirated or not none of it is really "our" content so that's another thing but on twitter if I downloaded/ripped something I put my watermark on it so ppl can find my account bc of the way things get reposted - I also think people are more likely to just repost a gif from twitter anyway than to come here, but idk about other sites if u mean elsewhere
