In 2018 I did a project where I mapped my mood using color every day, all year. I stole the idea from Bullet Journalers who usually use more traditional materials, but I chose to do it digitally (in Illustrator) so I could perfectly select the color palette from a photo of a sunset (and also that’s my most comfortable medium). I hoped that by doing this I would gain some insight into my feelings at best, and at worst just make something really pretty to look at. As a depressed and anxiety ridden person of 21 years, I was surprised to see that my moods tend to be more positive than I ever would have guessed. My two most charted feelings were a tie between content and lethargic/sick/blah (which I can chalk up to my various health issues and gloomy disposition). There were only two days where I felt my worst (depressed/hopeless) and didn’t know if it was worth it to go on. My 13 year old self would be SHOOK. September proved to be my happiest month, while February was the most difficult, which seems reasonable, but I was surprised to see November falling second as my best month. This year I will be carrying out this project again, but adding to it a marker of my ~*monthly cycle*~ to see what effect that may have. Either, it seems the meds are working 👍🏼 . . . . . . #yearinpixels #mentalhealth https://www.instagram.com/p/BsZU5qWH3_5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fw7ml25y8nam
