It takes a special kind of cruelty to laugh at how “transmascs never contribute anything and whenever they make something it’s stupid and cringe” in a world where, even once we overcome the massive institutional and interpersonal barriers of sexism and transphobia that make accessing knowledge-making and art-making practices, institutions and communities extremely difficult, the burden that is placed on transmasculine people to only ever represent or reproduce ourselves if what we have to say is simultaneously different enough from other “more important” demographics for it to be allowed to be said by us (and not them) and also identical enough to the experience of those demographics that it is not considered treason to say it, effectively up bars us from ever producing culture.
