i have made like 57 reddit throwaway accounts in my life because my only use for reddit is to login once a year to pose niche questions to a sub i assume is compromised of mostly autistic dads desperate to impart their knowledge upon anyone who will listen. when i got my first fisheries job the equipment list my boss sent me just said “knife.” i emailed back asking what kind of knife and he replied “any knife.” i got on reddit and went to some sub about fish and i said “i got a hatchery job in alaska. what knife do i need for multipurpose use. a knife that does it all.” one guy responded in ten minutes breaking down everything about knives & salmon work. gave me a better idea of my job than the interview did. then he recommended a single knife and like twenty other people replied after him “this is the correct knife. no notes.”
bought it. pretty good knife, no notes.

As a kid, I was really upset that Bill Watterson wouldn't license Calvin & Hobbes so I could have plushies or so there would be a Saturday morning cartoon. Now, I realize his resistance is the reason we don't have a Calvin & Hobbes DreamWorks movie starring Chris Pratt.
I made a crow in minecraft. his name is button
I recently saved an old creative world from my laptop and put it on my newer pc ^_^ was able to get some shader screenshots from it which is very cool

So the new pottery shard depicting the warden is called "mourner"??!?!??
Feeling a bit mental about these tags by @/fitzs-space.
(Also, I checked with Fitzs, and ruins got changed to runes, moving on)
In archaeology IRL, that IS a marker of chronology. The existence of pottery and the kind it is indicate really important information about findings and their place in the growth of societies. And, of course, the fact that the Warden is described as a mourner here says a lot about the context of the ancient cities. Minecraft really did just give us important information about the timeline of the world and its grief.
And how poetic that, in the same update, we now discover new life. Plants and mobs we could only hope for.
this post kinda annoyed me because primarily i thought the following: "where in the hell would the ancient city people get clay to Make pots unless there was a lush cave nearby, theyre at deepslate level!" so i went to do research and stopped being annoyed instantly cuz
that was just the tip of the iceberg, i had a thunk, a think even, because unless things change later on (tis be a snapshot after all) theres a lot of structures that dont have shards which means to me less oh woe is them they dont have the tech for pottery and more "these are places that the culture of the trail ruins had no contact with and thus couldnt spread their designs to, or alternatively the pots couldnt be preserved here"
places with no pots that also arent villager affiliated: ocean monuments, mineshafts, ruined portals, shipwrecks?, ancient cities, the stronghold, jungle pyramids
the trail ruins people were
1 old enough that a lot of their cities are now submerged in open ocean
2 diverse between settlements, the motifs on the cold water pottery shards are very adventure/exploration themed while the warm water equivalent has the vibe of a safe fishing society that knew about and might have cared about the sniffers
3 either in contact with villagers, looked like villagers, or somehow the iron golems predate villagers and the visual similarities go the other way around such that the villagers take after the golem rather than golem being made in the villagers likeness. the important thing to know is that in a time where people still knew about the sniffer (as can be interpreted from the snort shard) there was also something that looked like villagers, be that villagers or something else
4 as far as we know; not responsible for nor in a relationship with the people who made the jungle pyramid to share their pottery which is Very interesting since theres pottery in the desert pyramid and trail ruins Can generate in jungles
the tiniest mushroom biome
this is probably the tiniest mushroom biome I have found so far.
it's not actually that small but it has been covered by a ruined portal almost all of the way
