In a nutshell: On the first of each month, five new book selections are announced. You choose which one interests you, and it ships on the 7th. Shipping is always free and if none of the titles stand out to you, just skip that month.
On a broader note: Book of the Month club knows that it’s hard to keep up with all the great books coming out each month. Especially when best sellers and early hype books get much of the attention. BotM club sifts through the books to find hidden gems that don’t get much attention. Each month a panel of Judges selects the books (broad range of genres and a mix of fiction and non-fiction) and members have six days to choose the hardcover they want before it ships. Pictured are April’s selections, and quite honestly, I have interest in all of them. (especially “A Mother’s Reckoning”) Two memoirs, historical fiction, fiction, and a thriller. Aside from “The Nest” which has made the rounds on Bookstagram, all these other titles were off my radar. That’s when the beauty of BOTM club really grabbed me. I personally like having read something off the high hype radar and then being able to recommend it to others. I think it’s a great way to discover something new, and gives a monthly opportunity to maybe break from your pet genres to mix things up.
