GHXST - No Rest For The Wicked

I had the good fortune to see these guys at S!CK a while ago, and they rocked pretty hard. Despite every technical failure imaginable and a drunk guy in front who groped literally everyone, people got into it. Their desolate, deserty deathrock [(it's) all about (the) alliteration] suggests an Old West populated by bitter goths with pearl-handled revolvers and scores to settle... So it's prettymuch a win/win/win.

Also, I admit to having a crush on all 3 members of this band

Tearist - Living: 2009-Present

When I heard 'Tearist LP' on tha pipeline I got pretty fucking excited. Sadly this is all live stuff, plenty of which was on their CDR a while ago. Still, it's good to have a full LP's worth at decent quality. For fans of: reverb, Yazoo, phat beatz.

I don't even know what is going on with these guys. I'm not up on modern experimental jazz but I think that's sortof where they fall. But for the '08 Brooklyn set maybe. Regardless, this is entertaining. And somehow encouraging to those of us who want to make our own music [but are too scared of being shitty at it to practice. atleast that's me]. Probably some of the most upbeat music you'll find me posting. Oh and this stuff is ACTUALLY free.

Ambarchi, O'Rourke, & Haino - Tima Formosa

ALOT of my musicnerd-ier friends are in to 'electroacoustic improvisation.' I didn't really know what the term meant until recently. But I'm pretty sure this album is an amazing example of it. Imean, just look at that lineup. Oren Ambarchi, Jim O'Rourke, & Keiji Haino are all brilliant experimental musicians in their own right, to the point that I nearly salivated on the album cover. If you put a drone-metal artists in a room full of everything but guitars, this is the kind of thing [I hope] they'd come up with. Maybe Sunn O))) would. In fact I think Sunn have interacted with most of these artists in some way. So there's a good point comparison, to those not familiar with this sort of music. Enjoy!
