Shinya was on a train on the way to Alaska. As a photographer, he had always wanted to see the famous glaciers, icebergs and most of all, the northern lights!
The train car he was on was deserted. Other than the one man in the far corner.
Shinya groaned and rested his head on his hand, looking out of the window again. It was snowing, not really a surprise considering it was September.
Suddenly, the train jolted to a sudden stop. Shinya almost hit his head against the window. He frowned.
"Dear passengers, due to the unexpected heavy snow, the train will be temporarily stopped. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused," The speaker system announced.
Shinya blinked and sighed. He switched on his phone. If they were stuck here, might as well do something to pass time other than just stare.
No WiFi. Great.
Made sense though, they were stranded in the middle of nowhere. He put his phone back inside his bag and squirmed in his seat, trying to get comfortable.
There was nothing to do, no one to talk to....unless...
Shinya looked at the man in the same car as him. The man seemed to be staring outside the window, with his headphones on. He seemed fairly young.
The man averted his gaze from the window, to point beautiful violet eyes in Shinya's direction.
Shinya, embarrassed that he had been caught staring, sunk back into his seat, covering his face.
Soon, he was staring at the man again. This time, he was reading a book. Suddenly, he looked over at Shinya again, and frowned.
Shinya could feel his cheeks burning as he scrambled back into his seat. As if things couldn't get worse, the man walked over to Shinya and tapped his shoulder.
"Oi, stop staring at me," He said.
Shinya stuttered, trying to get a response out of his embarrassment.
"I'm sorry- I didn't mean to," He finally said.
"Can I sit over here? It's much warmer here," The man said and sat down on the seat next to him, without waiting for a response.
Shinya was sure his face was like a tomato right now.
"Soo...why are you going to Alaska?" Shinya asked, trying to spark a conversation, ad things were really awkward.
"I just come here for all my holidays, its a pretty place," The man replied.
"I'm here to sightsee as well! But this is Mt first time here though," Shinya said, smiling.
"Hah, figures. You're wearing two jackets and still shivering," The man said, laughing.
Shinya pouted. "It's cold, what do you expect?"
"Haha alright," The man said, then after a while, added on to it. "If you want, I can show you around some of the places I visit at Alaska,"
Shinya couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"I- sure! What's your name? Could I save your number please?" Shinya asked, trying to seem cheerful.
"Guren," The man said, typing his number into Shinya's phone.
"Cool, I'm Shinya!" Shinya replied.
