As a Swedish person, I can tell you that the culture here is to ALWAYS take your shoes of right away when entering someone’s home. Keeping them on would be considered very rude since you’re just getting dirt everywhere (seriously, why would you keep your shoes on inside?! You’ve walked outside in dirt with those things). The only exception would be if you’re just quickly going in to grab something in an adjacent room or something, but you would still never do that unless told it’s okay. Some people may have special indoor shoes (in order to avoid cold floors and dust I guess), but you would never ever just keep your outdoor shoes on in someone’s home.
