if you feel that you are confident in doing research and critically evaluating the things you read, I think one of the most useful things you can do is post about your reading—how you found a text, what you think of it, what your reservations are about it and why, what else you’ve read that contradicts it, what biases you think the author has, what interpretation of events their wording lends itself to, &c.
show people examples of the kinds of things that critically evaluating texts and trying to determine whether certain claims are true actually, practically entails. remember that literacy and reading comprehension are real problems for many people, and that the most that is ever said in schools is “find and trust reliable sources, like major Western news outlets” (lol).
not being taught something in school is not an excuse to not do that thing forever, but many people don’t even know where to begin. they are searching for information, they know not to trust most ‘reliable’ sources, but they don’t know where else to go. you will be much more helpful if you demonstrate by example where to begin than if you just deride people for having “internet brain rot” or whatever nonsense phrase we’ve decided to attribute much broader issues with information literacy to
