some of my thoughts on Revelations

it's good! it's a massive step-up from the base game.

the soundtrack

it's phenomenal. it had a couple callbacks to classic DOOM tracks, such as Suspense, The Demon's Dead, and Sign of Evil.

the levels

packed to the brim with content! there's a lot that's locked away until beating the campaign, such as the classic DOOM levels. it's neat, will be on my way to unlocking the '93 shotgun.

the spear feels really clunky

it's great to have the meathook back in action, but it just doesn't feel great to handle. i found myself relying more on the shield saw because i was more used to it. i only used the spear when absolutely necessary.

the dash being tied to the spear also feels like an odd choice.

overall, i enjoyed my time with Revelations! it was cool to learn more about Doomguy, err, Flynn Taggart, and the gameplay was fun.

DLC is pretty cool

probably my favorite track so far (pretty sure that's a The Demon's Dead reference at the beginning)

the Suspense remix from the DLC? absolutely delightful. and more classic tracks are on the way; hopefully Hiding the Secrets and Untitled are remixed.

that Dark Ages DLC trailer got me fucked up in a good way (i hope they optimized the DLC for Steam Deck too)

first, DOOM II Underhalls?? seemingly new weapon models! and brown leather gloves.. DOOM 64 has weapon sprites with brown leather gloves.

i know in both Ultimate and II, Doomguy has brown gloves, but in his Eternal designs, Ultimate has black gloves and II has fingerless leather ones.

this seems to be some sort of city level.. perhaps Suburbs from DOOM II again? maybe something during Thy Flesh Consumed or otherwise between Ultimate and II?

and then these: the left one resembles Doomguy's wife and kid from the photo in Eternal. and then what appears to be a Daisy/rabbit plush.

no screencap for this one but towards the end, someone referred to a Taggart. is the Flynn Taggart name gonna be canonized? i hope so, it's certainly better than Stan Blazkowics.
