Okay, this is random compared to my usual TMA posting, but Halloween moon crab questions.
I have one, he (I guess, haven't actually checked) is at least 7 years old. I got him adult sized and have had him for 6(?) years. I give him a 5 in deep mix of sand and coconut substrate that I keep damp, as well as various hides and shells, cuttlefish bones, a bowl of fresh dechlorinated water and a bowl of salt water made with aquarium salt. I have literally never had any crabs except for him but I think I'm doing pretty good.
Mostly I'm confused because so many posts and blogs and websites say that they're an aggressive species, but like once a month, every few months, I stick my hand in his tank and he just... Climbs on?? Like he gently uses his pinchers to hold on and walks up and down my arm but I have never been pinched by him in anger or stress in all 6 years. I'm also confused because one website stated that they were aggressive animals that will kill each other and also that they shouldn't be kept alone??? I've had my crab alone the entire time and he really does seem fine, regular, well molting, consistent eating (his favorites are blueberries and celery leaves). I have no clue what to try to get him happier or if I'm doing fine, or if I should expect him to die of being old soon because he's probably going on max age.
Please if anyone has anything to say that would be so good to hear
