Europe is currently being burned alive and people still think climate change is a joke. It's warmer in North Europe than in the middle eastern deserts.
Nearly all northern countries broke their decades old heat records this week.
Its only in the low hundreds in farenheit??? In America we get that for like a month or two straight every year??? Y'all need to deal is it really normally so cold over there that yall can live with a little heat???
If you're gonna have an ignorant American attitude then please only stay on American posts. No one in North Europe has an AC in their houses. Stores, animal shelters, elderly houses, no one has AC. the houses are designed to keep the heat in. The people are not accustomed to the heat. A sudden climate shift like this is extremely dangerous to older people and babies specifically.
There are programs being run to inform elderly people what to do to not die in this heat. There was a heatwave in the Netherlands in 2010 in which approximately 500 more elderly people passed away than normally.
Northern Europe is on the same latitudes as Alaska (which also seems so have had a similar heat wave earlier this summer). The nature can't just simply 'deal' with this lol so shut up.
Yeah, i never had an summer as hot as this and normally we just have one week with a bit over 30 degrees. But now we already have our third week in 2 months were it's far warmer than normal and it's not even august yet...
It went to 38 degrees the other day and the roads were melting in some places trust me we aren’t used to this
there’s been one or two people passing out near the shops around here because we Really Aren’t used to this kind of heat, so for the love of god just piss off
As a fellow European, once again:
Roads are really melting, old people or very young children are passing out and there have already been deaths associated with the heat in Europe. This shit sucks. Nobody is really used to it here, we don't even have spring and autumn anymore, it's all just summer-winter now and both have extreme temperatures. This is like the third year during which these changes are more than noticable. If you live in Europe, you know what I'm talking about.
In some villages, we're running out of water. Where I live, we're specifically at the brink of having water shut down completely across the entire village, so then we would have to buy bottled ones and stuff them in freezers (freezers also aren't infinite, hello?). That would be a crisis. No normal bathroom use, no tap water for cooking, nothing like that. Not to mention that our nature is dying out because of this, too. Farmers are fucking desperate, even people who grow vegetables and fruits on their gardens are because the heat kills all of this mercilessly.
No matter how horrible it is though, it shouldn't be happening. We're basically killing ourselves, and the heat is worse every year, so is the cold during winter. I understand that people from the states might be used to it and that's fine, but please don't belittle the fact that European people aren't used and that's sometimes fatal. The fact that central and northern Europe are currently experiencing the exact same temperatures which were considered tropical when you'd go on a trip to Croatia or any other southern country 5 years ago. Not worth ignoring. Not worth belittling. We're getting fucking baked over here.
But global warming is just a conspiracy, and climate change isn't really a thing to be worried about, of course. Sure.
