“Things have been getting harder lately.”
“One breath of juniper smoke, like the perfume of sagebrush after rain, evokes in magical catalysis, like certain music, the space and light and clarity and piercing strangeness of the American West. Long may it burn.”
— from Desert Solitaire: A Season in the Wilderness by Edward Abbey
Juniper
Juniper is known for its stimulating and mind-clearing properties and its cleansing and purification of the atmosphere. Its also known for its calming and relaxing effect on the nerves, and its sharpening of mental awareness and alertness.
When burned Juniper clears negative energies but it can also create a safe, protective, positive and healing space when that negative energy is removed.
In Scottish folk magic juniper was used to sain (bless, purify) objects, people, places and livestock. This purification process was there to remove influences that might be overlooked or to remove negative spirits. Juniper is the most used plant to sain with but Rowan was also used regularly. They would usually sain a new house by burning juniper in every room enough to fill the whole house with smoke and they would sit in the house until they coughed from the smoke, this was also done every new year as well.
Witchcraft is not simply about magick; that is why there are sorcerers. Witchcraft is not just about herbs; that is why there are herbalists. Witchcraft is not only about divination or contacting spirits; that is why there are psychics and mediums. Witchcraft is something wholly, entirely different. It is a lifestyle, a vocation, a liminal space defined by experience. It is a virtual crossroads where several paths meet and create their own space by virtue of their intersection.

yknow when youre eating pomegranate seeds and youre a little too into it and you get that blood-streaked look all over your face ♡ justgirlythings
I'm not much for sharing my witch tips, but I do love this one. Short on candles? Don't have time to wait for one to burn? Write you spell on a match and watch it burn! Bonus points for making black salt from the ashes.
herbs of sweetness, herbs that soothe
I ask you now this grief remove
bring to me new peace and joy
and all the sweetness you employ
Reminder: Don’t let your brain bully you, sometimes our minds are cruel to us. You deserve to live, you deserve to eat, you deserve to express your feelings. People do like you! You’re doing a pretty good job, and you are worth more than you give yourself credit for.
This intention is a spell for self-love. đź’ś
Stranger: are you a witch?
Me: yeah
Stranger: are…are you a BAD witch????
Me: yeah, I don’t memorize my rituals and my idea of a sabbat celebration is making pancakes from mix

Hail Loki
Hail Loki for what he has done
Hail the trickster for his lies
His mischief, his laughter, his sins
Hail Lopt for walking the winds
And saving us in ways
We didn’t know we needed saving
Hail the father of monsters
For including the excluded
Hail silver tongue
For always speaking his mind
His lips may be dripping
With venom or honey
But they say the truth stings
Hail the flame haired one
For lighting a fire during the darkest times
Hail Loki
For bringing on the end
And with it
A new beginning
Apollo: Sister, what are you the goddess of?
Artemis: *lounging by a spring on piles of deerskin surrounded by three dozen naked girls with a dead pan expression* Virginity.
“Heracles, they’re lesbians”.
Note that the concept of “virginity” in Ancient times merely meant “unmarried”, and had nothing to do with sexual activity. Some priestesses were “virgins” because they chose (or were committed to) a life of worship, but it was merely a question of social status, not of personal choice or practice. Of course, one can suppose that this lifestyle would be rather attractive for lesbians. So when Artemis is said to be the Goddess of Virgins, it is meant to be understood as “Goddess of Unmarried Women”, or, quite possibly literally, of lesbians. (It’s only Christianity that reframed the concept of virginity to mean “never had sex”. Many ancient religions has “Virgin goddesses”, which symbolized feminine power, and in this case too it meant “untied to a man”, or “whole for herself”)
Pomegranates are 89¢ at my local store. That's cheaper than avocadoes. You better bet I'm taking advantage!
Please please please
Don’t burry glass spell jars. Or any glass.
Don’t burry plastic spell jars. Or any plastic.
And for the love of the gods don’t throw glass or plastic in the ocean. That is polluting!
I’m all for making and burrowing spell jars. I’m all for leaving offerings. But please do so in a way that is not harmful to the environment.
Is there small biodegradable bottles/jars yet? Let me know. I know people use egg shells and stuff but they're just to fragile and I haven't found a preferable alternative yet so I just don't burry things.
