bonjour! sadly, i think this will be the last post of this series. and by series, i mean the school stuff (?). here’s my progress! haven’t finished moon river, yet but i will get to that after this post. i will try my best to post pictures of the albums and the rest of the posts i missed tomorrow.

bonjour! hello! it’s me, ella, and today i’m reporting my progress on my two album covers. so, i’m finished sugarplum elegy, and i am quite proud of it. here’s my process.

1. the sketch/doodle. normally, this happens when i’m in class and bored. i start sketching what i want it to look like, and then i start really refining it.

2. the rough draft. now, it’s time for the rough draft! the first one was the reallyyy rough draft. usually, with this process, the original idea changes drastically- after all, some ideas seem good when you just doodle it, but when it comes to the bigger paper, it’ll have some changes. 

3. the good copy. it’s nearly the last step, however there are sub-steps in it.   - the pencil sketch. this is what i do before going in with pen. i make sure that there aren’t any faults before going over in pen.  - penning it. third to last step. also the most crucial one. if i mess up on this one, i have to restart, or improvise. once i’m done and satisfied, i erase it and take a good look at it.  - colouring it in. also pretty important. now, i really have to colour in the lines (unlike my rough drafts). 

you’re done! unless you have some kind of digital drawing tablet, then you don’t really need to scan it.

bonjour! what happened to ‘hola!’? we’ll never know. i really enjoyed learning spanish, but alas, it is time for my next goal! i definitely recommend learning new languages. however, i do think that you shouldn’t learn two languages that are very similar at the same time. this happened last week, and let me tell you, i was so confused. learning french and spanish at the same time causes a lot of confusion. but if you’re learning german and chinese at the same time, it won’t be as confusing and messy. anyways, learning spanish was extremely fun, and even more when i spoke some phrases and really confused my mom.

this week, i’m drawing album cover art for my favourite artists. i hope to do at least two this week, as it is very hard to draw album art that looks good, and also refine it in the span of three days. i think the creative process will be difficult, but i thought of some ideas today. i will try my best to document the progress through instagram, so if you want to see it, make sure to follow me!

the songs i’m choosing are- consider it as some song recs. 1. sugarplum elegy - niki  such a good and underrated song! i really recommend it.  i’m doing this song because it is just so emotional, and really deserves some good album art. i think that my concept is pretty good, and it is based off on some of her posts on instagram (follow her: @/nikizefanya). the artist is honestly so amazing, and such an inspiration! 2. moon river - audrey hepburn found it through the flash. an amazing song, and also brings in a lot of nostalgia for me.  i’m doing this song because i want to really have a challenge. instead of the generic album covers with moons and rivers, i will try my best to make it really creative! au revoir! -ella

hola! i’m doing pretty okay at spanish. just a question, though are there any other things to learn spanish with online that isn’t duolingo? i just want to try out another format that isn’t duolingo, and i also want to learn more vocab. please message or reblog if you have one! here are my goals for today: 1. finish up to level three on ‘travel’ 2. finish up to level four on ‘intro’ 3. finish up to level four on ‘phrases’ currently, i’m up to level one on everything up to greetings, and i’m on level three on intro and phrases. i’m also trying to get to level three on travel later. adios! -ella p.s. shoutout to.. french-pages! check out their blog here! https://french-pages.tumblr.com/

hola! this week, i am learning spanish. i will be using duolingo, and i will be practicing daily. i will also try to speak it more often. here are my goals: 1. finish ‘intro’ on duolingo. 2. write an introduction about myself in spanish. 3. speak some spanish. i’ve currently finished level one of everything up to greetings on duolingo. i hope to finish more! sorry for the short post. adiós! -ella

bonjour! hey! I forgot to post on Monday, but for a good reason (I think). I hadn’t actually written anything for my movie script. the book I’m writing my movie script on is ‘Max the Mighty’. this book is actually one of my favourites, but I only found out about recently. it’s a really great book, and I really recommend it. anyways, you guys know the drill. movie script: I finished three chapters in the span of two days. hoping to get more done today, now that I have less of a workload. I will try to aim for four, but realistically? I’ll probably only finish two chapters. poems: finished! asl: I’m actually getting pretty good at signing now! I think I will try to teach my sister how to sign, so that I have someone to sign with. I think that it would actually be better to sign with someone else, and not just do it when I’m bored. graphic novel: nothing’s happening here. I haven’t done it in like, three weeks. I won’t lie and say ‘yeah, I’m totally going to do it tonight’, because that’s not going to happen.

ants: would you like to be small? to experience the world. but as a tiny being. where one teardrop means an entire pool. or you can walk as a soldier one by one to the little crumb that to you is huge. or how about the feeling of unimportance knowing that someday you’ll be gone and squashed under a giant’s shoe.

bees: bzz bzz goes the bees. bzz bzz as they fly around, their black and yellow bodies, going here and there. bzz bzz goes the bees as they pollinate your flowers, your crops, and other things. bzz bzz the bees go, as their little wings flap. lifting them up and down.

bonjour! sorry for missing yesterday’s post.  progress on poems: i haven’t finished the last poem, however, I will be doing that later. stay tuned for the poems! I don’t really recommend doing poetry. whenever I do it, it feels like I’m doing something completely wrong. however, if you do enjoy reading or writing poetry, I would recommend this. it’s all based on your interests, your attention span, and your drive for motivation and things like that. also, I am extremely sorry for the short post. au revoir! -ella

bonjour! it’s me, Ella, and today I will be talking about my progress on each one of my bucket list goals. progress on poems: I have completed my first poem about ants. tomorrow, I will start on my second one about bees. here are my goals. 1. I want to write the rough draft of my second poem. 2. edit the second poem. 3. write the final draft. progress on asl: I am pretty good at asl now, and now I just have to work on having a conversation with someone else in asl. however, the other person will definitely have to sign slowly, so that I can actually understand.  also, are there any good websites where I can learn asl on? I will also be accepting channel suggestions too. progress on graphic novel: i think that this one is my worst one yet. I haven’t worked on it in a week, but I seriously hope I will be able to make some kind of progress this week. even though this is a really hard thing to do, it teaches me patience, and I will definitely be proud of the graphic novel (even if it kind of sucks, art-wise). I am really excited for my next goal. here’s a hint about what I’m doing next week.  I’m writing something based off of a short story. but what am I writing? reblog and tell me what you think! au revoir! -ella

a challenge for everyone!!

bonjour! as you may have noticed, I have been doing things from my bucket list each week.

what’s the challenge? my challenge for you is to do something from your bucket list each week, too. if you think that the things on your bucket list is too hard, make another one filled with tasks that are doable and reasonable. I’m guessing that most of the viewers are teenagers, so I don’t think anyone would be able to afford a trip to Russia (hotel and food included) for one.  for starters, here are some suggestions. 1. write a song and perform it somewhere (talent show, coffee shop, etc.) 2. volunteer at a homeless shelter. 3. start a small business. 4. learn another language. 5. sleep under the stars. remember, a bucket list is essentially a list of things to do before you die, so think; would you want to die without doing this?

i really recommend you to do this. for the past few weeks, i had a blast doing the things i had really wanted to do for a long time coming.

bonjour! it’s the start of week three. this week, I will be writing poems about insects. there will be three poems in total. updates on poems: I have chosen the insects I will be writing about. I will be writing about ants, bees, and butterflies. once I’m finished each of them, I will post the poems on tumblr (possibly on friday). my goals: 1. start on a rough draft for poem #1 (ants). 2. edit it. 3. finish it. updates on asl: it’s pretty much the same as last week. my goal is to be ‘fluent’ in asl by the end of this week. also, I will be learning some new vocabulary in asl. updates on graphic novel: I am out of motivation to finish the graphic novel. I don’t think that I’m really cut out for drawing graphic novels, or even drawing things for long periods of time. however, I will continue to try and finish the graphic novel, and have the finished product in the next three weeks. I hope that I will be okay enough at writing poems. but the thing I’m most worried about is motivation. au revoir! -ella

bonjour! it’s the end of week two, and here’s my progress on learning asl. updates on asl (week two goal): I can finally sign pretty well, however, I do forget some letters at times, like ‘d’, or ‘v’. the only thing I didn’t do that was on my list was to learn some vocabulary. however, even though it may be the end of a week, I will still try my best to practice asl, and hopefully learn some new words in asl.  I definitely recommend learning asl! it’s always helpful to know it, and it’s always nice to have a ‘secret’ language that you can use to communicate with your friends. it’s great to be able to help a deaf person in a sea of people who can’t communicate with them. however, if you’re not that consistent with habits (like me :|), then I suggest learning it with a friend who is consistent and who can also help you remember to keep on going. updates on graphic novel (week one goal): because of my pretty big workload, I haven’t had the time to do anything. every time I try to work on it, I get frustrated at something- it can be small, like my pen being choppy, or something big, like colouring something in the wrong shade. like asl, I hope that I will be able to finish it by the end of my six weeks. here’s a hint as to what my next goal is!! it has something to do with the arts and insects oho! also, check out my instagram for a post tomorrow! au revoir! -ella

Week One

bonjour!

It’s officially the end of week one!

I’m going to be honest here: I’m not off to a good start. Needless to say, it’s been a difficult transition from my normal habits and what I’m trying to do now. Sometimes it’s hard to persevere and maintain paths that you’re not used to. Fingers crossed though, hopefully, next week I’ll get everything on track. For the past week, I’ve been constantly reminding myself that this is actually benefiting myself, and not just fulfilling a task.

I’ve also been trying to make and refer to a sleep schedule and a meal plan. However, there’s been many unexpected situations and events, interrupting my plans. What can I say? Life is unpredictable.

In addition to everything else, I’ve started a bullet journal. It’s probably the most effective way of capturing all my progress and experience. It’s fast, and I can personalize it any way I want. I’ve wanted to start a bullet journal for quite a while now, but for some reason, I’ve held on to it. This project gives me a great excuse to start and not give up on one. Not to brag or anything, but I think I’m doing very well so far. It’s a new path for me!

Well, since this is only the first week, I don’t have a lot of things to add. Hopefully, I can get all the specifications set in stone soon. Thanks for reading. See you next week! :)

bonjour! it’s me again, and today, I will be talking about my progress on asl (American sign language). I know the alphabet pretty well, but I did fall behind a bit. this was because of my homework, and other school things. my goals for today are listed here. goals: 1. practice the alphabet more. 2. learn some vocabulary (food, colours, etc.) 3. practice the vocabulary. again, I tried not to overshoot with my goals. I believe that these goals are achievable if I manage my time wisely. I may not have time to practice, though, because I will be attending a school concert tonight. however, I will try to fit some practice into my schedule. some issues I have with asl are: 1. the gestures are kind of confusing. 2. the similar ones sort of blend together when I’m tired. however, with practice, I believe that I will be able to learn and memorize some bits of asl. hard as it is, it is worth the effort. au revoir! -ella (p.s. do you guys like longer posts? please tell me if you do.
