been a while since I’ve drawn monster high let alone g1!!! once again trying to be more messy and relaxed in my work. Kiyomi is a much lesser known character but I love her oh so very much and she is oh so very much in puppy love with Draculaura. They are adorable 😭

And one without the obnoxious DreamWorks face. I like the askew sculpt keeping with the film, and I know Coraline's sassy and rude a good amount of the time, but that smirk annoys me. A more open expression might be the other thing to help her.

I don't think the sculpt and facial screening are adequate for conveying Coraline because it's too Monster High and uncannily clashes with the film's own stylization, but it could have at least been a better shift into the MH style. I guess they tried aging her up--maybe this isn't a little-sister body either, but she looks more like Misses Spink and Forcible than a kid with all that heavy blue shadow. I will not be buying this doll, but if I ended up with her some other way, I'd simply have to repaint. New worst for the Skullector line in my book. It's a shame because I love the movie and the seeing stone on the belt is a great touch. If she has a shirt under the coat, that's also commendable. I could justify this doll if the factory design fully satisfied me, but it absolutely does not.

I had thought I would go nuts for a doll of the spindly "second form" Other Mother, which is one of my all-time favorite character designs, but now I don't think Monster High could do her justice.
