Guess who who had drafts they wanted to post and forget to do so for literal MONTHS. Not me. No abselutly not me.
Anywaysss- Hey @cratthecatrat ! I don't know if you remember that you had asked about Nekidas pirate time and generally about O'Zero but I do and (depite being several months late) I wanted to finally answer you!
I've had an entire post previously typed out already but that one was long and only about Nikki's pirate time. I didn't want to bore anyone so I'm re-doing it. Though if someone is still interested I can still post it. Just lmk :)
O'Zero is the name of the Squadron 00 which is part of the EPU (Economic Planetary Union).
-> The EPU wishes to establish and make established trade routes saver in Wild Space and certain Outer Rim zones. Hereby it mostly focuses on economy and trading, trying to steer clear of any political drama and instead accomidating to the goverment and ruling systems of it's member systems and planets. .... It's a little more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it. (If wanted, I can try to explain it in more depth in a different post.)
Squadron 00, dubbed and registered as O'Zero, consists of technically five members. Four of these are Activ Duty Pilots, meaning they activly fly assigned missions while the last member, 005, instead persues advanced study courses. The four other members take on various assigned missions, which range from escorts, to exploration, patrols and even offering fire-support when an EPU planet needs defending from an opposing faction. The four members in question are:
Finley (Fin) Jeremy Dawson - Pilot designation number 001
Nekida (Nikki) O'Marley - ---| | --- 002
Jason Piper Brickmann - --- | | --- 003
Darne Trochul - --- | | --- 004
Camilia (Camie) Xajan - --- | | --- 005 (<- the one not flying activly)
So essencially, O'Zero is a group of young adults, doing whatever they've been told to do (in occasionally questionable ways) or just doing what they feel like. They are a tight-knit friendgroup who will break laws to make sure each one is save and sound. Despite that, they are your average college/ uni students including all the whack shit shenanigans and 3am panic-study-sessions.
As for Nekidas pirate time- that takes place before she became part of O'Zero. She was picked off the street of Coruscant by a band of pirates and was originally intended to be sold for a quick buck. However, that idea changed when Nikki demonstrated excelent sticky hands (aka. stealing) and was able to fix something with what little knowledge of mechnics she had. Instead of selling her, the pirates decided to take her in and make her one of their own.
After spending four years with them, now being 14, Nikki not only knew how to steal "professionally" but also how to steer and fix a ship, which was the best way to lose persuers when thing's went south and first and foremost, how to (at least a little) defend herself. Mainly with a blaster but also in a fist fight. She was a full on crew member.
That was, until she was accidentily left behind when a heist went wrong. While the pirates still came back with ducked heads to Please and Thank you, get their crew member back, the other crew left an impression on Nikki. They were Traders of the EPU. And instead of treating her like a criminal, they treated her like the child/teen she was. It took roughly 3 months, a couple more run ins with the same Traders and lots of thinking on the pirate captains part, until it was decided- Nikki would be allowed to go with the EPU. She had previously gotten an offer to join them and thus attend their schools, pilot training and in the end, join their ranks. When Nikki left, a couple of pirates left with her, curious about this whole organisation thing, including the pirate Captain herself, Captain Stelle.
Which is how Nikki ended up with the EPU, where she met the rest of what would later become the members of Squadron 00.
AN: These are shortened explinations and recaps of all what originally happened. There's a lot more details that I've left out for the sake of it all not being too confusing. ... Seeing it all typed out like this it's honestly quite funny how, after working on BtS for years now, the story itself has barely a coherent plot, but the world and it's characters has become quite intricate and woven into one another. For example, there is actually an underlying reason for why Stelle left with Nikki and there is also more to O'Zero and their history as squad as well as how the entire system behind their "work" works.
