Phasing Worlds - A Linked Universe inspired story, with original characters and the chaos that ensues, when two groups of chaotic gremlins and trauma barren heroes meet each other.

Between the Stars - A Star Wars based story, in which things happen a little differently than in the Galaxy far far away that we know. Drama, action and the usual shenanigans are happening, while our beloved characters try to find a sanctum in the vastness of space.

Your dialogue is stiff because everyone is being too honest

Great dialogue can come from radical emotional honesty. But in most real conversations, people

dodge questions

answer indirectly

lie (badly)

change the subject

crack jokes to avoid serious answers

lie (convincingly)

say half of what they mean

tell the truth but get so anxious/angry/defensive others now think they're lying

If your dialogue feels unnatural, it might be because everyone is saying exactly what they think, or articulating their thoughts too well. Try letting characters hide things instead.

Subtext is where tension lives.

Hi! Thanks for the ask! Let's get right into it (be warned, I'll yap!)

8. What do they first think of when asked about 'home'?

Finley, Camie and Darne all first think about their parents. Finley sees his parents standing in the doorway to their big house. Camie thinks of her parents as they all embrace in a sunlight filled kitchen. And Darne thinks of her parents as they talked about following the late duchess Satine Kryze Eliza Verness into the far reaches of the Outer Rim.

Nikki thinks of her squadmates and their shared apartment first and Captain Stelle as well as Trent Miccary second. The latter ones being part of the pirate crew with which she spent her teenage years and learned from. Stelle in this, has become a sort of motherly figure whereas Trent and Nikki have developed sibling-like relationship. Though if asked, she'd say her home is with Squad O'Zero and it's members. (<- I'll gladly talk about this in more detail, just comment under this post or ask in the inbox!)

Jason, contrary to everyone else, first thinks of a place. Specifically the landscape of his childhood home. Palms, warm breezes and soft rolling plains are on his mind before his thoughts zero in on a limestone house with wide front garden.

As for Linna though (completely different story ^^')- a series of pictures flash in her mind; At first she sees the warm interior of taverns with their many different patreons and plenty of chatter and laughter. Next she sees a family of three, a mother a father and their young adult son, smiling at her- her adoptive family after she lost hers in a... fire. To keep it short. Lastly she sees tree gatherings and wide fields with soft hills. Paths are winding through them with occasional adventurer and travellers coming to and fro. Shes a travelling bard afterall, she spent plenty of time in taverns and on the road. So that's where she feels most at home.

21. Whats their favorite creative medium? (Either to make or interact with, or both!)

Fin's and Darne's favorite medium to make is music. Finley is a guitarist in a band and Darne has learned to play the ukulele with Fins help.

Jason's fave medium to interact with is Spacetagram, he is the most frequent poster of the sqaud and enjoys greatly to interact with people on there.

Linna's is probably obvious, but as a bard she loves to make and interact with music. She generally loves poetry, stories and all that can be sung, collecting them all in a notebook.

It’s yet another Oc ask game! This one is little habits and small details to make y’all think.

Any food combos they really like?

How do they sleep? What position, what’s their sleeping environment, etc

Any NON TRAUMA RELATED fears they have?

(if they know how to drive) when did they learn?

(if they’ve ever dranken) when did they first try alcohol? (And by first try I mean like first sip, not first full class, so an older individual letting them take a drink of the alcohol still counts)

Do they use proper grammar when possible?

What is their favorite creative medium? (Either to make or interact with, or both!)

Please bear with me with this post. Okay so before anyone says anything, I need to explain something; Each member of the squad has Spacetagram. I made an entire sheet the other day, detailing what each one of them posts, how often and thier general habits. Now, with this picture, each one of them posted it on their blog, each with a different captaion. So first you'll have the uncaptioned post, and then each one of their captaions following. And for future refference, I'll put their names with the captaion too. Enjoy the chaos!

Yapping and thoughts under the cut!

Once again, biker girl Darne 🙏

Idk if she would be a racer or not, but she deffo owns a bike and loves to show it off.

I belive that out of the entire squad, Darne and Finley are the biggest gamers. Darne I feel, would play games like Black Myth: Wokung, Sekiro and the Dark Souls series including Elden Ring. Or at least those would be her main games, she does play others, like Mario Cart for example. This is solely based on vibes too, so it might changes in future. I wouldn't be able to tell you tho what Fins games would be.

Jason and Nikki on the other hand, along with Camie, are rarely playing. Mostly they play party games all together, tho I think Jason and Nikki would defintily have one or two games seperatly they like to play casually. Camie is the rarest gamer of them. She does play Stardew Valley however and has spent a decent amount of hours in that game!

Other pictures might be rather self explenatory but I'll put my thoughts anyways:

Finley, Jason and Nikki met each other in piloting school. They quickly became good friends and were usually seen as trio. Fun fact, Nikki used to be taller than Jason when they first met. That quickly changed when Jason got a growth spurt and Nikki simultaniously stopped growing as fast. To this day Jason holds his height over Nikkis head (quite literally).

Another fun fact! We have two pairs of childhood best friends in the squad; Finley/ Jason and Nekida/ Camilia.

I really like this one tbh. Not many in-universe thoughts. But wouldn't it be nice to see yourself from a decade ago/ in a decade? I think theres something fascinating in seeing the differences that one only notices when removed from the moment.

Continuing with Camie and Nikki- while they had some rocky patches and long breaks throughout their years, as of right now they are best friends with lots of shared history and jokes. They do a lot together like going out drinking for example! (Though for this specific picture I imagen there was a garden party somewhere and now these two are in their way back.)
