SNEAK PEAK! Hello everyone! I just finished my third week of the school year. Here is a preview of my current project, an comic-style art book inspired by my mother's home town, Chitré, La Herrera, Panamá The concept of this is to tell the story through aesthetic beauty, instead of a written script. There will be short amounts of dialogue, but I will keep it in Spanish, so the words don't really distract from the visual (at least with my main audience, which I assume will be English speakers) I will be creating a patreon soon. How do you get over that fear of ruining a new notebook/journal ?? I always love buying new stationery and like I always have things planned in my head of what I'll use them for but when i get home and go to actually use them I'm always held back by this strange feeling like my mind goes blank and i have no idea what to do with it or I'm scared I'll ruin it or like feel like there's sth wrong with it that I can't use it the way I wanted 😅 what do you suggest i do??

i totally understand what you mean! i still have that fear sometimes too, but honestly i’ve learned to just go for it and to try not to think about it too much. eventually, i know that when i look back on it later on, i might cringe a little, but i’ll just laugh it off and think how silly i was in the first place to worry about such a small thing!

however, if you’re still concerned, here are some tips:

breathe. take out a sheet of scratch paper and give yourself a few minutes to plan out what you want to include in your notebook/journal, whether that’s a rough sketch or a list or whatever. think of it as doing a rough draft!

grab a pencil and lightly write/draw directly in your notebook/journal. if you make a mistake, you can easily erase it and your page will still look clean. when you’re done, you can go back over it with a pen or marker (or make it darker with pencil).

last resort: too lazy to make a rough draft and made a mistake anyway? tear out the page and start again!

I made a new selfie edit as my icon! I did this from my phone, so the resolution is probably horrible on a computer. ( I haven't seen this blog on my Mac yet actually 😅) But I like it anyway!
