âStories...It is simply there like life itself.â
Food for thought!Â
Elijah Wood plays a character who goes by the name Jonathan Safran Foer, an eccentric Brooklynite who collects bits and pieces of his family's past -- everything from photographs to scraps of cloth -- which he places in individual baggies and tacks to his wall. At first we don't know for sure why he has cultivated this curious habit, but we can guess: He's afraid, as he reveals later in the movie, that he'll "forget."
âThe power of things inheres in the memories they gather up inside them, and also in the vicissitudes of our imagination, and our memory--of this there is no doubt.âÂ
âIt turns out that once you start increasing the emotional energy of inanimate objects, an unpredictable chain reaction is set off.â

Gucci has announced the launch of its new âEquilibriumâ platform. The website, Equilibrium.gucci.com, will be used as a communication tool for the 13,000 Gucci employees to complement a new company-wide programme that will allow every member of staff to dedicate one percent of their working time to volunteering in local communities.
Yet Gucci takes another initiative towards being sustainable. The âEquilibriumâ is a part of Gucciâs 10 year Sustainability Plan centred around three pillars: the environment, people and innovation. This comes after Gucciâs announcement of going âFur-freeâ in October last year. The brand has also pledged to make 95% of their raw materials traceable. With Gucci setting exemplary standards we can hope that other luxury brands can follow in their footsteps.Â
80â˛s Nostalgia in TV Shows & Movies
There is a sudden influx of shows and films like Stranger Things, Riverdale, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Atomic Blonde, all imitating the 80â˛s pop culture vibe. Right from the background score, art direction, styling everything seems a moment back in time. We are also seeing similar trends in fashion with collection dedicated to the 90â˛s kids. So is it just a mere co-incidence?Â
An interesting excerpt from an article I read recently-
âSo all those 1980s throwbacks at the movies and on TV you're seeing these days? Part of the nostalgia may simply be because of the fact that '80s kids are growing up and making our entertainment, but part of it is most certainly also due to the eerie coincidence that our current cultural climate and political landscape reflects that era. The stylistic choices are a little less worrisome than the political connections, of course, but hey, with the possibility of nuclear annihilation on the horizon and political mistrust everywhere we look, we're at least getting some sweet synth pop and bright colors along the ride.â
HYPER REALITY - Short Film 2016
A film I watched recently while researching on Augmented reality & future interfaces, designer and film-maker Keiichi Matsuda's imagines a frighteningly believable dystopian near-future where devices and applications are constantly connected to a video and audio feed of people's surroundings. The film brings to light the dangerous potential of technology when integrated into human life. At the same time the opportunities are massive. The films serves as a food for thought in a world shifting from an experience to an immersive economy.Â
Museum of Material Memory, India
âThe Museum is an effort to digitally archive material culture of the Indian subcontinent, tracing family history and social ethnography through heirlooms, collectibles and objects of antiquityâ
Through storytelling, each post on the Archive reveals not just a history of objects and the people they belong to, but also unfolds generational narratives about the tradition, culture, customs, conventions, habits, language, society, geography and history of the vast and diverse subcontinent.
Bohemian Rhapsody - A biopic on Freddie Mercury
The song âWe will rock you!â brings back so many memories from my school days. I can still feel the thrill of chanting the chorus with my friends! The film will chronicle the period between the bandâs formation in the 1970s and Mercuryâs death in 1991. Itâs funny how one iconic band can hold such significance for different generations. My father was equally excited on seeing the trailer! This made me go back to a paper I had read recently about Nostalgis and age.Â
The research states, â Contrary to expectations, young adults were just as prone to nostalgic feelings as older adults.â
Re-release Culture
In the last couple of years brands have started a re-release scheme. Iconic brands like Ralph Lauren to heritage brands like J crew have joined the movement. Then thereâs obviously Nike and Adidas! They are building new collections inspired from decade old ones. There can be a number of reasons for this one being Nostalgia & the need for exclusivity. The current consumer generation likes to be defined as âUniqueâ. Thus they are always looking out for unique styles. By wearing something vintage & limited edition youâre automatically separating yourself from the masses.Â
Blockchain for Fashion:Â
Aiding the global movement to increase transparency in the fashion industry, Provenance has, in collaboration with Martine Jarlgaard, proved blockchainâs potential for forging greater trust in businesses along a fashion supply chain, enabling brands to provide verified information about the materials, processes and people behind products. The first garment ever tracked with blockchain technology was presented at the Copenhagen Fashion Summitâs âSolutions Labâ in Denmark, May 2017.

"If we change the fashion industry, we can change the world"
More than 1,300 international key players from the fashion industry, politics, NGOs, academia and the media gathered for the sixth edition of the Summit. The highlight of the summit was the Fashion Pulse Report which has been created to accelerate the change fashion companies are trying to make. The first three of these include improving traceability and supply chains, making use of water and chemicals more efficient, and ensuring a safer work environment where employees are respected. Thinking long term, the four points which could change the future of the industry include developing new responsable materials, establishing a closed-loop system that reuses materials, improving waste treatment and exploring the potential of new digital technologies, such as Blockchain.
Faribault woolens are made to endure and be passed down through generations. The Memory Mill is a unique digital platform that allows you to record and preserve a personal message for the next person who will receive your blanket or throw, whether itâs a gift a few days from now or a blanket you want to pass on to a loved one decades in the future.
The blankets have a engraved metal label attached to them with a unique seriel number. The owner of the blanket can view the message on the memory mill website. Blanket as an object immediately makes us nostalgic. It is symbolic of childhood, unconditional love, endurance and so much more. This automatically puts the product in a âheirloomâ category.Â
The best of Met Gala 2018
Firstly, how surreal does the Gucci trio look! The visionary and Gucciâs Creative Director was joined by Jared Leto and Lana Del Rey. Graciously abiding the theme â Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & Catholic Imaginationâ ,they looked magnificent!Definitely one of the best looks of the evening.
