As B9 we’re collecting together our new EP, ‘What’s Left to Let Go’ with our first, ‘Are We Now or Have We Ever Been’, we decided that we wanted a physical standalone release for the new EP. My label, Palm Reader Records, licensed the EP from B9 and released a limited to 100 cassette of it to take on tour to Europe. These sold out super quick.

Goodtime Boys - RAIN

The concept for RAIN was inspired by natures constant struggle to survive while sharing earth with the human race, life moving forward, loss and emotional resistance are also concepts I explored that influenced the visual. 

Really happy with the result and overall finish on it. 

CD and 12” vinyl are both printed on uncoated reverse matt board stock.

If I was a family member of Self Defense I would INSIST of playing that song from the Goodtime Boys split every fucking night.

Yeah, a lot of people like that song. I was somewhat surprised. It’s very odd sounding, to my ears.

I sent it to Palm Reader with the email, “this is pretty weird, I’ll understand if you want to wait for a song that’s easier on the ears.” 

But they loved it and the response has been very positive.

Self Defense Family / Goodtime Boys - Split 7” (Clear)

It’s sweet when your friends put out good music then decide to do a split with another band who also put out good music. 

Both SDF and GTB deliver killer songs. I’m now left with a huge feeling of impatience because I can’t wait for the new SDF full length and from what I’ve heard, the GTB album is going to blow minds. Fact. 

The overall design and attention to detail of the packaging is beautiful. I’m stoked for my friends in Palm Reader, they’ve really upped their game with this release. 

This is the clear variant limited to 100 copies.

That is a really nice looking record. 

Poster is a nice touch as well. 

Palm Reader Records did a killer job with this thing. The clear is sold out as I understand it, but you can buy other colors from Palm Reader and Bridge 9 now, and Deathwish and other distros very shortly. 

We’ll have copies on this Euro tour. I expect they’ll sell pretty quick.

Just so no one loses track of what we’ve got going on at the moment, here’s a reminder, with links to where you can purchase these joints. 

The split with Goodtime Boys just went up for preorder. One song from us that is really weird. The instruments are pleasant, but the vocals rub against them in a very peculiar way. Really interesting. Lyrics reference tanning and collecting nazi memorabilia. Palm Reader Records will probably move these pretty fast. 

You Are Beneath Her, is a companion to our last LP, You Are Beneath Me, and precursor to an upcoming duets record. If features Caroline Corrigan on vocals, transforming songs I abused into a totally different (and charming) animal. Many people consider this our best work. It’s available any day from Iron Pier and you’re welcome to listen to it now. 

Don’t forget THE CORRECTIONS OFFICER IN ME. It’s a 12” EP that rules so fucking hard I don’t have words to describe it. Songs that run the gamut from PUNISHING BRUTALITY BEYOND COMPARISON to meditative weirdness. A corresponding shirt is up for order and also looks sharp as hell. 

Order these and let’s sell through so I can feel better about announcing details on the split with Axis, release period for the LP, and a European and West Coast tour.
