Last night

(Guy has been making eyes at me all night)

Guy: So it's just you and the guys, hey? Hanging out with the boys all day etc?

Me: yup! I didn't like it so much in my last band because they weren't my type of guys but the vibe in this band is really great.

Guy: What was it about the last band, negativity?

Me: More like misogyny.

Guy: *blank stare*

*doesn't understand*

*laughs uncomfortably*

There’s this person I like. We keep hanging out and not even hugging when we say goodbye and I don’t want to push it or make them feel uncomfortable so I’m not going to make a move or anything but I am so frustrated. Cool person, cool ideas, cool vibes. Maybe we are meant to just be friends. That’s cool. Maybe I just have to wait a little longer and feel it out. Angst!!

Tomorrow I leave for Australia! It's a 4 hour, then 15 hour flight to Sydney from here (Fort Lauderdale). We've spent a month rehearsing and we've learned 10-12 new songs every day but 5 days out of the month (3 days off, 2 days review). We have been so busy that the month just flew by - I feel like I got here yesterday. Maybe our time on the ship will fly just as quickly. I'm not feeling super confident about all the material, but I fee like I'll pull it together very soon.

It’s funny how some people come into your life for a moment and really touch you, and then some people just seem to weasel their way into your day-to-day and leave without a trace. Some friends become permanent. Some hookups leave a mark on your heart. Some boyfriends leave you feeling empty.

I got free doc martens and free converse today from my cruise ship company. I never thought my keyboard playing would lead to free shoes. Also 5 new outfits for the theme sets we'll be playing on board. Life is good.

I feel like making music all day is great for my emotional and mental stamina. It's hard to keep putting myself into song after song, but it's a nice challenge to stay present and engaged with everyone in my band. Everyone contributes and shares energy. Having said that, it's super intense and I'm super tired. I can't wait to go to Sydney for a day in just over a week.
