That's where it changed for Amity. She was hurt and mad and upset at Luz for lying to her, but then Luz told her why and it was like

It was like, "My girlfriend was in pain this whole time and I didn't even know." And I was complaining about my dad the same day that Luz was missing hers.

It doesn't absolve Luz for lying to her, but she gets it. Sometimes we forget that yes we're the audience and we know a lot about the characters, but they're still learning about each other.

and the fact that luz was sat there trying to make a joke out of it. trying not to upset amity too much. saying “oh, it happened a long time ago. it’s not a big deal.” and undermine her own feelings, only to look up and see amity’s face. a face clearly saying that it IS a big deal and that luz has been through something traumatic and amity feels bad for her instead of thinking it’s not a big deal.

luz throws her own feelings to the side so much, and to see someone she loves take her feelings seriously is so so SO important. these two really belong together.
