*Opens basket to reveal many different little trinkets and flowers* Take one, pan folks!
This is your friendly reminder that pan people are. so wonderful. Being pan is something that should make you happy, and sometimes battleaxe bis and panphobes ruin that for us.
I'm here to tell you that their opinion on pansexuality is not valid, because none of it is based on correct facts.
If your definition of your sexuality makes you happy? That's all anyone can ask for.
Listen, the queer community is fluid and ever changing. You absolutely do not have to stuff yourself into a box in order to appease people.
I really Do Not like hugs and prolonged physical contact but everytime I see a pan person getting hate/questioning their identity because of a panphobe, I desperately want to give them a hug.
I want to tell them it's okay, that pansexuality is good and you are good. I want to tell them that panphobes don't get to decide how you identify, no one does except you.
And if you also don't like hugs, I just want to sit down and have a conversation with you. I want to hear your struggles and give you reassurance.
The whole reason I started this blog was to spread more positivity for groups of people that need it the most. I need everyone to know that panphobes and battleaxe bis are doing nothing but harming the queer community and shattering it further.
I don't know where I'm going with this. I just hope my followers and anyone else who sees this post know that this is a safe place. Don't be afraid to reach out.
#ShareYourPride Day 10: Cliche You Most Identify With
Hanging up pride flags in your room. I have a genderqueer one at my dad's and a pansexual one at my mom's.
#ShareYourPride Day 9: Favorite LGBTQIA+ Tumblr
Definitely @/posi-pan. They so much great work and research and they're basically the only reason I as a pan person know anything about our history. I highly recommend checking them out if you're pan or questioning if you're pan.
#ShareYourPride Day 7: Favorite LGBTQIA+ Book(s)
Oops, I missed yesterday. I don't have a pride playlist so I'm just going to do day 7's prompt on the 8th.
Anyway my favorite LGBTQIA+ book series is the Magnus Chase series by Rick Riordan. I haven't read a ton of LGBTQIA+ books and these definitely aren't the best ones out there by any stretch, but Rick Riordan's stuff is very nostalgic and comforting to me. These books have a pansexual main character and books 2 and 3 have a genderfluid character who I like very much. A lot of focus is given to Alex's identity as a genderfluid person. There are definitely problems with the book which have been covered extensively by online discourse, but Riordan clearly had good intentions and I think the way it is handled is overall very good. These books are also very mainstream and will probably be a lot of kids' first introduction to the concept of being genderqueer.
#ShareYourPride Day 6: Chosen Family
So I can't fulfill the actual prompt of this which is "tag your chosen family" because I didn't meet my chosen family on Tumblr and thus not all of them have blogs and I don't know the urls of the ones who do. So I'd just like to give everyone a shoutout by name.
Shoutout to Ska and Faye, you guys were college students dealing with your own shit when I met you and you still were awesome de facto parents for the group. Thanks for really pulling us together.
Shoutout to Agy for being an incredible boyfriend and getting me through some extremely rough nights, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be here today. I'm sorry I broke up with you and I'm glad we're friends again now.
Shoutout to Eins, for being the only person who would listen to my bullshit infodumping for god knows how long and for getting me through several horrible years of high school. Hope you get into UF.
And last but not least big shoutout to Ane for being the purest most precious bab to ever exist in the entire universe.
I love you guys and if you find this post please don't kill me.
#ShareYourPride Day 5: A Moment You're Proud Of
A moment I'm proud of? April 19th, 2019 at 11:57 pm.
Aka this one:
I'd known I was queer for years before that, since at least 2015. I'd just called myself a lesbian because I liked girls, but in high school I decided since I didn't just like girls I should find another label, and decided on bisexual since it was one of the only ones I knew. But I never felt comfortable with the label bisexual. I didn't consider it a dirty word, and I had no problem with being bisexual in theory, but it just didn't feel like me. I didn't experience attraction in the way many bisexual people seemed to.
Discovering the label pan fixed this for me. It felt like coming home. And that first tentative step, into doing research and finding pan people to talk to and meeting my community, is one I'm incredibly proud of. It was the moment I discovered who I really was, and I didn't have to pretend anymore.
#ShareYourPride Day 4: Pride Moodboard
Poleaxe Pan Moodboard, for when panphobes make you wanna go apeshit. Inspired by @foxflightstudios awesome orientation armory art, sorry your work got appropriated by exclusionists.
#ShareYourPride Day 3: Something Rainbow
I got this adorable pansexual rainbow at the pet store! My dog didn't like it but I held onto it. The clouds are like •u• ^u^
#ShareYourPride Day 2: Something That Makes You Happy
When I saw this prompt my first thought was something stupid like "my cat", but it's a pride month challenge so...
It makes me happy to be pansexual.
This is actually a recent development. And no, I never was repressed, or closeted, or struggled with internalized homophobia, or hated that I experienced same gender attraction (before I stopped believing in the concept of gender for myself). I struggled with internalized panphobia, brought on by exclusionists and online bigots and the belief that I was somehow lesser because I didn't identify with the letters in the acronym, specifically the 'B'.
But that's over. It's been a long journey to feel this way, one I'm planning on writing about for my other blog, but for this prompt, the journey isn't what matters, it's the destination I have reached.
I am happy because I am pansexual.
I am happy because the pansexual community is one of the most wonderful ones I've ever been in, and everyone in it makes me feel so included and safe.
I am happy because some of my best friends are pansexual. Shoutout to Eins, even though he's not on Tumblr, and shoutout to Q, who is and will probably see this, and shoutout to Bug, who I'll be meeting in person for the first time this weekend. I love you guys.
I am happy because being queer, and being pansexual, should be an experience of joy, not one of pain. I'm happy because I've decided to love my identity and myself, regardless of what anyone else says.
I am happy.
#ShareYourPride Day 1: Pronouns and Flag
So I'm dusting off an old sideblog to post these so I don't flood my main, if you want to follow me my main is @catboy-jesus.
I use any pronouns, with a preference for they/them
It's been a long and hard journey towards discovering my gender, and at the end of the day I came up with nothing. I've discovered that I don't feel a strong connection to any particular gender, and that no matter what language people use for me I'm fine. That being said, I get excited when people use they/them, because it means they perceive me as not being cis or binary.
I'm pansexual
I'm extremely proud to be pansexual. I've overcome a lot of internalized panphobia and attacks from exclusionists to get to this point, but I'm proud of who I am not and I won't let anyone take it away again. I hope all the other pan folks out there feel the same way, or will someday. I love you all. Also shoutout to Jasper, the creator of the pan flag, who has faced so much panphobia, transphobia, and enbyphobia. I hope they're doing okay.
Happy pride month y'all!
Well, well, well, will you look at that? It’s Pride again.
You know the drill by now. It’s June 1, and suddenly everything from banks to big box stores has slapped a rainbow on their logo. Rainbow capitalism knows how to target LGBTQIA+ customers. For exactly 30 days of the year. How quaint.
Of course, it’s nice to make things bright, and colorful, and pretty. But it’s meaningless if that’s all it is.
Pride should be about uplifting and celebrating you, the community. And it should be year-round, not just 8.22% of the year. So, we’re signal-boosting your posts that celebrate, support, and honor all genders and sexualities over here. Follow to keep your dashboard lovely and gay as hell all year round.
And, yes, we’re also making a bit of a fuss right here on @celebrate (apparently, we just can’t help ourselves). So if you’re interested in talking about what Pride means to you or want to celebrate Pride but don’t know how to go about it this year, we made a fun little 30-day Share Your Pride Challenge list. Because you do, in fact, deserve to be celebrated.
Tag your posts with #ShareYourPride if you want to make them a little easier for other people to find. And Tumblr? Happy Pride. We’re glad you’re here.
happy pan week i love y’all
