the more analysis i see on mischa/talia's relationship, the more i think "i really don't think the authors intended any of this."

because like, the entirety of mischa's relationship with talia is for jokes- even the end of talia him crying is mainly so ocean can do the fucking... "look at us bonding" thing. like, its a comedic moment.

you guys give the librettist/lyricist of the show way too much credit. the show is so inherently problematic and DUMB and there are things that dont make sense because its a musical comedy. its not that deep.

any more argument about talia will make me blow my brains out. the joke is that she isnt real.

A fair take, but it’s also just fun to look at things with more depth even if it’s not intended. And I think she’s an important part of his character, joke or no. The song doesn’t make you laugh about anything, either.

Also, idk if I’d say the show is dumb. Its lesson is very heavy handed, but it has an important thing to say. (Might I add that musical comedies can be very deep?)

Having a white or skinny actress play Constance takes away from her character.

She is a woman who is only seen as “nice”constantly overlooked and being made to play second fiddle. Having Constance be a black pus sized woman amplifies the role and adds depth to her character.

Additionally very few roles in theater allow for plus sized poc to fill them, so having Constance played by a white girl or a skinny girl is just taking away an already scarce role.
