i talk about this all the time but i'm so fucking sure byler was going to happen at least up until volume 1. i don't know what the fuck happened to volume 2 but the difference in writing choices and dialogue is diabolical. so picture this.. will byers a very selfless character who basically held together mileven for an entire season and sacrificed his own feelings for his sister and sisters boyfriend because he THINKS they love each other and are just having normal relationship problems... just has a complete system reset regarding his feelings towards mike. not only that but he has HOPE, hope that this person he talks about to robin not only wants to make out but DATE him as well is very telling.. so what i'm picking up on only just from this interaction between two queer characters who basically went through the same thing is that will is definitely talking about mike and wants to know if this person wants to date and that could mean nothing (even it being about mike) IF he didn't ask for signals because now we're sure mike has done something to make will feel hopeful that he could reciprocate those feelings because will is not schizophrenic (like mike ig) so how does such a selfless and 'puts everyone's feelings before his own' character go from trying to hold a relationship together to basically 'homewrecking' said relationship if they weren't already broken up? my boy will would never ever get between those two he would absolutely NEVER do that. this however makes no sense because we've seen what was going on with mileven in the finale.... something isn't adding up here and i believe with my whole heart that byler was the plan but something happened and that made volume 2 and the finale absolutely horrible and almost painful to watch. byler would've been the better story but the duffers are not ready to hear that yet.
