I'm stuck on the couch recovering from Health Stuff so I took the time to scan and edit some of my favourite spreads in my 2025 journal!

My lovely girlfriend bought the (horrendously pricey) Hobonichi date-free A5 for my birthday last year and I loved using it as a journal💕💕

The layout was fun to play with: the dividing line to the left created a fun space I could jot down tiny things in, or write sideways in. I put no rules around journalling: I went weeks without picking it up. I enjoyed Tetris-ing many small entries on a page, I only decorated when I felt like it and I didn't care too much about legibility either ┐⁠(⁠´⁠ー⁠｀⁠)⁠┌

I love "aesthetic" journaling tho and doing fun layouts!!! Takes the fear of the blank page away, plus it's been a lovely creative outlet for me.

For 2026 I splurged on the A6 Hobonichi Avec simply because it's the best paper I've ever written on and the slim notebooks are so comforting. I'm trying out daily journaling in 2026: I shopped my stash (and okay maybe bought a sticker sheet or two) and created little "monthly kits" to fit the colour scheme of the Avec booklets 👌 so far it's been going great!!

mostly i just wanted to have a place to share this from, and to show all the pages that definitely haven't been shared here. also my thoughts on the notebook itself under the cut

this notebook is just the plain 30 page a5 grid notebook from muji, the one that's £1.50. its fantastic for fountain pens, honestly! it doesn't show as many properties as tomoe river, life or midori md (+ cotton), of course, but it shows a surprising amount considering the price! it doesn't have any bleed through or even much show through on my heavy applications of inks for my dates- and those put more ink on the page than you might think. it doesn't even feather with diamine cinnabun (scented) when i use it in fine sailor and kaweco pens!

it has a lovely tooth, especially feeling fantastic with my sailors, the grid is faint and thin enough to not compete with my handwriting, and the colour is an interesting soft white- definitely more cream that white, but also slightly greyed. similar to the midori md cotton, but just slightly... darker, not more cream.

i admittedly have been struggling a lot with glueing things in and warping the pages pretty nastily, as i'm sure is visible, but that isn't actually the paper's fault; it's mine for being bad at using the coccoina paste glue. with a gluestick or glue pen, everything is fine.

mmm okay that's it i think? i've had a good time in here, but also my life threw a lot of nastiness at me, and i became lost to the throws of developing a new special interest too, so i spent much longer in here than i expected to- and so i'm very glad to be moving on and out into a life pistachio (grid, of course) next!
