So I just watched Turning Red which also contains another generational trauma plot. Growing up in a toxic asian household and worst, being the fvcking first born, I literally cried in the scene where Meimei was talking to the younger version of her mom and their confrontational fight scene cause damn I know the feeling of trying so hard to be the strictly "good daughter" and mostly the feeling of no matter what you do will never be good enough for them and for everyone. I love this type of Disney movies because this is a REAL LIFE problem that is being sadly normalized in a lot of households, this kind of trauma is something that you grow up with so this being addressed is such a aackkkkk 😭 Guess I'm a sucker for these kind of storylines rather than the good old "save the princess" or the "good vs evil" thingies.
