Hey in you project hail mary mlp AU, why is Grace alicorn? Was he born that way or did he do something to earn it? Or was that what all astronauts on the hail mary got to ensure their best chances of sucess?

Okay I’m using this for a tangent on fan kid designs I did to mess around

So I don’t really like the idea of alicorns being born alicorns, I find this a lot less compelling then the idea that alicorns earn there wings/horns which is the idea I’m going with. Basically Grace saves to planets so the universe lets him live forever with his little boyfriend in space. BUT I would make an exception for this rule in the case of a strattland baby (seen above). Because the concept of nine months after a very much unicorn graceful dawn being sent up to space and Eva (peaceful melody) having an alicorn baby is funny to me. Like this would be years before grace would even become an alicorn it literally makes no sense other than some vague magic reasons. I think Grace would be predestined to become an alicorn and save the stars so maybe his kid gets alicorn rights for whatever reason.

I’m not sure what would have happened if Yáo and Ilyukhina survived but I think they’d remain as they were. Like a said this was graces destiny so I imagine they’d probably get some kind of magical quirk if they helped him become an alicorn, maybe an extended life span or blessing. But I also like to imagine if they survived graceful would have stayed on erid and he would have sent them home. But even if they survived they wouldn’t have become alicorns.

I think if Simon (deep root) and Grace (graceful dawn) were to have a kid it would be done through magic so the kid would probably be a unicorn. A super powerful one. Simply due to the power of magic used to creat them but I don’t see a good reason why it would be an alicorn. Strattland baby gets that right because it’s a funny concept to me. Bonus points if both babies exist in the same universe, so melody has gracefuls kid (who’s an alicorn) who then later going onto to make a kid with root (having a powerful unicorn child) imagine the damn family drama if Graceful ever goes back to equestria.

Okay it was either that or Rocky out lives him so we gotta pick and chose our angst/lh at least in this scenario he can go on to protect Rocky and Andrians pebbles and there grand pebbles and so and so forth. (We can make some bullshit up about Simon being immortal due to some kind of magic blood ocean stuff because i don’t like thinking about how twilight outlived all her friends I refuse to do that to grace)

Also I think he would just be the protector of erid, earth “equestria” already has several alicorns Grace really wouldn’t be adding much by returning. Honestly I was really inspired by ewereka on tik tok and I like to think Grace is kinda like the protector of the Milky Way galaxy instead of just earth. He helps keep balance for the whole universe with a focus on erid. I also really like the moniker of him being the patron saint of one way trips so maybe that could also play into his role

Also Rocky probably has some realllyyy misbehaving kids, like they’re so bad

Why is grace an Alicorn? Why did all the other alicorns disappear? Would you headcanon eva as a unicorn? Personally im feeling earth pony tho.

Okay so i actually watched the movie last night and i have fallen In love with Eva so here is her design! First off no she’s not an alicorn because I’m the story she’s only granted temporary power to save the sun also she wasn’t the one actually doing the saving. Theoretically If she went in graces place on the mission and survived then she’d have become an alicorn but because she stayed on earth then she stays a plan old Pegasus. (Also I made her a Pegasus because I thought I’d be ironic that a creature created to take flight forced another into the sky). Also the part of the movie where she sings really stuck out to me because imagine her special talent is brining people together through song and then she has to make life changing decisions of sending ponies up into space. Splitting them forever from their loved ones. God I love her I really wanna read the book just to learn more about her.

(I love her so much I love morally complex women)

Sadly I still haven’t watched iron lung so maybe I’ll come back to this one at a later date but from the lore I understand i think it’d make sense that in Simon’s universe all the alicorns disappeared because most of them are tied to the planets in some way. Even if just in name I feel like the elements of harmony (twilight), balance (Luna and celestia), and love (cadance) don’t really seem that present. So it wouldn’t make sense for the alicorns that represent this to still be alive. And thank you again !! I love getting asks and rambling so always feel free to ask questions!

The bloody mary Mlp au is really interesting im curious about a few things if your willing to share.

Is there a reason grace js an alacorn other than to fit tje relgious imagery? Im not too familar with mlp lore so im not sure.

Rocky just staight up still being a normal ass eridian is hasterical 10/10. Au where everything is the same but the humans are ponies ig. And magic is real. Amazing I love it.

So the thing is I’m not even sure if mlp has its own alicorn lore figured out 💀 because gen 4 and 5 give completely different answers to how alicorns exist. In gen 4 we don’t really get an explanation but we can assume that they seem to be made through a great deed. In the case of cadence and twilight we see this within the books or on screen that after doing some great act they become alicorns. I always assumed it was a mix of this and predestined fate of sort. But gen 5 kinda throws that shit out the window with Opaline and Sunny (mlp is too scared to make an earth pony an alicorn and I can’t stand this). Which they then imply that alicorns like Luna and celestia are born and all come from the same kind of heaven like realm? Idk but we going gen 4 explanation with this one because everything but the gen 5 movie sucks.

I think it would be funny if Grace would have gained to alicorn status just randomly one day, which would have been the day the pods he sent out hit earth. So he would have just been chilling in space as a unicorn, the sun saving bacteria hit earth, and BAM he’s an alicorn. I would also take this happening when he arrives on erid or even after figuring out how to save the stars. Anyway super disorientating experience and he would be freaking the hell out, Rocky just standing there like “why grace have wings now, question?”

Also another thought you don’t need to be an alicorn to rule this is established many times. So if you don’t like the alicorn bit you can totally ignore it and keep him as a plan out unicorn. Kinda like princess amore who has the stature of an alicorn but only has a horn but she ruled the crystal empire pre sombra/ princess cadence.

So Grace was really inspired from sunburst I tried to keep it separate but I really like sunbursts design and couldn’t help but make Grace really bright with lighter hooves. I also went with the graceful dawn name because it follows the naming conventions of alot of the powerful gen 4 unicorns. Sunset shimmer, twilight sparkle, sunburst, luster dawn. Mlp loves its naming conventions and I also love it. The red tents in his alicorn form come from his cutie mark which is supposed to represent A. His passion for microbiology and B. The taumoeba used to save the stars (which is red?? Right?? Idk I’m planning on watching the movie this week). So hence the red tenting. The white streaks was mainly just to break up the hair and it’s a common thing in alot of more important designs.

Simon is dark because he’s a sad bastard. A lot of ponies are very pastel very bright so I thought a good contrast would work well. A dark grey coat with black hair, the only real pop of color being that small green and red cutie mark. Of course the red accents because blood, I kinda considered making him some kind of draconequus pony mix (the species discord belongs too). Maybe the blood ocean was filled with chaos magic and it changed him? But I ended up just making him an earth pony because I wasn’t entirely sure how to apply that. The name deep root came from the idea that he’s strong, sturdy, and too stubborn to die. Like a deep seated root refusing to be moved. Also his special talent being plants because like my bro garden please.
