“I am a paradox, wrapped in an allegory encompassed as an enigma.” - Liv ☆A DID-system blog☆ I (Liv) am a pansexual,afab agender, artist living with a variety of (diagnosed) mental illnesses. This blog will contain not only My content/post, but also that of alter’s content/post (whom feel comfortable posting). I have found that being open about My/Our illnesses is very therapeutic, not only to the host (Me), but also to the alters as well. We are all looking for a safe, healthy, environment to thrive & begin to grow in, not only individually but as a system. Our goal is to work towards gaining some sense of functionally & learn to finally work as a symbiotic unit. We are also looking to connect with others like us whom share similar, if not the same diagnosis, as we have received (see the FAQ page for a list of our mental illnesses, with information on them). We also seek to possibly learn from those who've learned to function with these disorders, & gain support from those like us. We are looking for a sense of community & belonging I guess you could say, as Our current situation doesn't completely provide that. We hope you enjoy Our little blog & maybe even learn something new! We welcome “ask” & “fan mail” as we are here to meet others like us, educate people whom want to learn more about mental illness & maybe even make some friends along the way.

WHY VICTIM BLAMING HAPPENS?

People become cognitively frustrated when presented with stories of victims who suffer through little fault of their own.

Most people reconcile their psychological distress by blaming the victim.

Psychologists have found that people’s belief in a just world helps explain how they react to innocent victims of negative life circumstances. 

They can deal with this frustration in two ways: they can conclude that the world is an unjust place, or they can decide that the victim is somehow to blame.

Eating disorders don’t just effect able bodied, middle class, teenage white girls like the media potrays.

Eating disorders can effect ANYONE.

• Eating disorders effect boys. • Eating disorders effect non-binary people. • Eating disorders can effect people of colour. • Eating disorders can effect children. • Eating disorders can effect middle aged people. • Eating disorders can effect the elderly. • Eating disorders can effect disabled people.

Eating disorders don’t care about race, age, gender or if the person is able bodied or not.

Eating disorders are about CONTROL. •Not just being skinny. •Not just being heavy. •Not just losing/gaining weight.

Not all people with eating disorders are skinny.

Not all people with anorexia are skinny. (Atypical anorexia doesn’t even require a low weight to be diagnosed.)

Not all people with bulimia purge. (Some take laxatives or over exercise)

Not all people with binge eating disorders are fat.

Some people with anorexia are average or even above average weight. Some people with bulimia are average or even heavier.

There are more eating disorders than just anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. (There’s atypical anorexia, atypical bulimia etc.)

There are people who don’t fit any of these labels, who have OSED (Other Specified Eating Disorder. Previously known as EDNOS)

You can’t always tell someone has an eating disorder. Many of us are masters at hiding it.

Eating disorders are very hard to recover from, and sometimes the ED mindset never goes away.

• Imagine feeling guilty every time you ate. • Imagine one of the things we need to live, food, being your enemy. • Imagine either not eating at all or not being able to stop eating.

Eating disorders are like this little voice in our heads, constantly lying to you. It tells us we are in control if we give into the ED.

But really it’s the ED that controls us.

Eating disorders can be deadly. 1 in 3 people with anorexia will die from it!

So please, throw your preconceived notions of eating disorders out the window.
