It would at first seem the Senior either hadn’t heard or simply did not hear Ruby’s insistence, the sound of flipping papers and subtle scratches of a pen the only sound amid the hum of a hard running computer for the few heartbeats of silence that had fallen between them.
“I’m not exactly considered the ‘fun’ one among your seniors, you know.”
It was only then did Crys turn to face her junior, a propping an arm on the back of her chair to take in the pouting visage of the boy who, for whatever reason, was eager for her attention. Where she honest, Crys wasn’t anywhere near her deadline for this report. She was actually ahead on time, but why put it off? At least, such was her mindset.
“You sure you wouldn’t rather go with-” She had almost said Gold, but she doubted the roughhousing delinquent would have meshed exceptionally well with Ruby’s much more pristine sense of aesthetics. She’s not so sure about Silver either. “… Someone more ‘interesting’?”
someone more interesting? he’s surprised to hear crystal refer to herself so lowly, even if it was only inferred. though in hindsight, he supposes it’s more common for the dexholders to lack self-esteem. it leaves a bitter aftertaste in his mouth, especially because no one noticed -- or, they did, but they didn’t care to do anything about it. as always, they have no one else to lean on but themselves. and, believe it or not, ruby’s glad to lend a helping hand to his kindred spirits if they need it.
“ don’t belittle yourself like that, ” he huffs, crossing his arms. his dramatics are all in good nature, though. he’s admittedly not so good at talking about feelings honestly. making it more lighthearted with exaggerated gestures makes it a bit easier. “ if i thought you were boring, i wouldn’t have journeyed a -- ll the way to the middle of nowhere to see you. but i did! surely that counts for something. ”
when it came to his seniors, he found that crystal is the easiest for him to get along with; not that he hates the others ( he looks up to them, he’s so grateful to them ), he just feels like he and crystal are on closer wavelength, so to speak. save for their aspirations, which are on a completely different spectrum, he feels like their ideals and the way they operate are pretty close if not the same. he feels like he understands crystal, just a bit, and that crystal could understand him, if he let her ( which is a different discussion entirely ).
“ i don’t want to beg, but i will! ”
